Not truth at least, in most of the cases, whane u as promoter are booking an artist you get a "offer' for live act: .00 $ and for dj set another amount or you get from them Live+ dj set : $$$ so actually is the business of the prducers, as the cd's are not selling, their income has to come from the gig's. And as the can not ask for the dj set higher amounts for example (at least not in our scene) so there is product I will call = Live act = dj set. In most of the cases the same thing, I rather and already done to pay more fee and travel expenses to a good dj then the so calling Live act.
There are very few real lives, like Peaking Goddes Collective (lived pure bliss at their perormance this summer)or Hilight Tribe.

I saw Goa Gil play last weekend and he either has learned how to mix or someone has premixed tracks for him (OR I was so out of my head that it sounded good).
Is he playing with premixed tracks? If so, he'd fall under this knob twister category!
