Review

Kino Oko is producer from Warszaw (Poland) involved in the psy-trance and anternative electronic music production for a long peroid of time, during he made a huge influence and difference in the scene releasing always high quality produced music but always with a high definition of experimentalism. He was also involved into projects Tromesa and Bigwigs - now already a legendary band. Kino Oko is one of those artsist from who you can always expect something huge - not new, the right term would be 'unheard'. After the 'Lost Entertainment' album which remained very popular (for those poeple with deep range of musical taste searching for utopic sound) behind the mainstream psy and progressive trance, from that period have passed almost three years. Now I am very pleased to give a 'few' words (since this is music that you can say so much about, and that is actually the best thing that one album can give to you imo) to this amazing piece of art - 'Alphabetically Divided Highway'.

01 - Any Kind Of Structure

Album is opening with 'Any Kind Of Structure' totally experimental combination of minimalistic drumloops and filtered electric synth leads. If someone concerned about the genre - dont even thing about categorizing this! This is the absulute top of hybridization process within electronic dance music genres, lots of people tried to make a unique combination but most of the tries were somehow 'already heard' or something like that. This is what i'm talking about - Kino Oko gives us a taste of future with amazing "multigenre" style as i like to call it. Back to the track, this is extremely deep track with a lot of emotions involved. This is where we see the difference between previous album and a step of development within Kino Oko's sound of this one - if you can rebember the opening track from 'Lost Entertainment' titled 'Born Without Soul' you can clearly see the change of atmosphere which music makes - instead of tension-filled electric experimental stuff now you can hear a different side of creativity from this producer: emotive, with a lot of hidden themes and sounds that capture your attention all the time. Great opener.

02 - Made In Satisfaction

Story countinues. The way which first track finishes and second starts discovers the beauty of the concept this album offers - a journey into the unknown and undiscovered scapes of electronic sounds (i really missed this since all the psytrance became one big 'template'). Big electro influence here, totally positive atmosphere, makes you dream, makes you fly, makes you dance - be happy thats what it says ; ) Everything here is so unique, effects are amazing. Kino Oko definately used the best sequences of all genres - here and there you can hear minimalistic single-shot samples, relaxed and dreamy ambiental pads and bells... I could talk about the sounds for a while now but let the sound get inside your mind, listen and enjoy.

03 - Body And Mind

Tempo Goes Up. Definately a track that will hit some festivals. Delayed bass vibrates through the sound, amazing effects as always, a lot of 'glitchwork' too - totally futuristic progressive trip. The thing that you will surely notice about this producer is that he incredibly controls a huge amount of tracks elements and makes all synchtronized in a chatoic order. WTF you say? Well, it's really heard to achieve this, from my experience as a producer.

04 - Mother Mature

Again beautifull melodies of all kinds - from strings, arpeggiators and other really interesting tonal effects, again this makes you fly high - awaking the utopic vision that everybody has inside : ) Highly recommended for the lovers of Suomi progressive trance/house (Kiwa, Highpersonic Whomen, Loopus In Fabula for example). Great for listening at home, or in car or wherever - its a real moodlifter!

05 - Sympathetic Magic Death

Yes, the names are weird : ) It's just another aspect of this timeless album, which is definately creating a milestone in electronic music production. With this track we dive a bit deeper into more serious realms - dramatic feel here. Technotic intro features amazingly produced glitchy-noise sounds, so weird rhythm. The sounds like this are featured in many tracks showing amazing production skills. Jazzy piano drives us through melancholic feelings. Really interesting style - if i must define it it would be minimal progressive tech (with a piano hahah). When i think once again - its pointless to categorized in as i mentioned above, again you can hear more various styles. Great track, some of you may think that piano theme is disharmonic but i love it the way it is - its unusual, spins around in a head sucking you into vortex between reality and imagination. Very psychedelic.

06 - Story Of Forgotten Notes

Funky retrodelic feel in this track. Reminds me of stuff from 'Ultrapop' compilations. Again unique rhythm layers giving the track interesting dynamics for moving the dancefloors. The bass is the thing i dont like, and overall the track is too electro for my style, but its nice for listening.

07 - Stand By Me

The funky atmosphere from the previous track is also present here. Bassline is smooth, very sub oscillating, its just soothing your ears. Lots of appregios and automations, the sound is very rich and warm. At 4 minutes starts beautiful solo string that sounds like some pitched guitar. This is amazing stuff for the festivals, so strong feelings present here. Just amazing!

08 - Pure Irony

This is a track that was my favourite from the first time i've heard promo of album. Warm floating pads with sound breaking strings is so good combination. Bassline is groovy and punchy making that unique feel of building progression. Beautiful melodies levitates around. This is one of those tracks which will make your face smiling and body dancing, making you wish it never stops, it never ends... I will definately listen this over and over and over and over... and over again : )

09 - Remedy Express

From the relaxing imagirany soundscapes of 'Pure Irony', 'Remedy Express' drives us through more distortive electroish-techno fields. Arrangement is fantastic, use of reverb is extraordinary - its not important from which side you look at the music, this album is in every was unique and highly refreshing. This track brings back the style from the 'Lost Entertainment' but packed with loads of new production tricks that Kino Oko offers us with this album. Really nice atmosphere shifts too, at moments it is a little dark, at moment it is shiny with elation and positivity effect.

10 - Messiah Formula

As we slowly approach to the ending of the journey, we have another amazing track has a serious potential for me to become of of the best tracks ever. The strenght of emotions this track has can be only compared to the depth of 'Dead Birds in the Sky' track from the previous album which is definately my alltime favourite! While that track is dark, deep and somehow sad, 'Messiah Formula' is an explosion of energy and beautiful human emotions. Do not expect some euro-bombing - this is beautifull trance tune full of unique sounds, taking you away to dreamland and beyond, far away... I don't know what i could say more - this is music which will awake your deepest emotions and making you listen to it over and over again. And the best thing that I am sure will happen - years after this moment of strong impression i will listen to this with same seduction.

11 - Through The Round Window

The album finishes with deep creation titled 'Through The Round Window'. Electric bass is uplifting in the background, while rhythm randomizes and plays with the leading melody. Track is another highly emotional piece of creativity with some really dark male vocals, making you wonder about the hidden message this track has. A beautiful closing track, really experimental as always.

Bottom Line:

Honestly saying, this is the album i completely enjoyed from start to finish. Overall, it represents a different side of Kino Oko's musicality featuring amazing amount of sounds used in tracks and unique melodies. Positive atmosphere is basically present in every track but in different ways - sometimes open and concrete, sometimes deep and subliminal. This is the album that will definately make some changes in the scene, if not - it will remain as one of the most beautifull and best produced releases, related to Tribal Vision Records, label that released this album. Highly recommended!

10 / 10

After thoroughly enjoying the previous Big Wigs album i thought i should give this work of art a listen. The effort put into producing this album and compiling it in order to perfect the story is very obvious. ADH is a quality album and the moods created are pretty unique (nice break from the night sound). I should also say the artwork is pretty neat just as with the Big Wigs album Congratulations mate, hope this gets the recognition it deserves. Wish you all the best

I don't really understand this music really.
What I do recognize is that its quite a lot different from really everything else.

Maybe I should give many many more plays, before I can say it's great.

Tribal Vision records are on with their newest release which is Kino Oko's album. Kino Oko is one part of the Bigwigs / Tromesa projects which make the most unusual and characteristic music on the electronic psy trance scene, having a lot of releases.

Starting of with the tons of emotions, the “awareness of inadequacy” feeling spills on the table as the sounds start to kick in one by one in a 4/4 deformed manner. A lot of sounds storm in suddenly followed by the “IDM” like sexy beat which I hope it'll never stop going...(T1) Invigorating music! The cuts and clicks recycled in the studio are brought together sounding like Shpongle meets Kraftwerk!.... but in Germany. A lighter variant with soft and intelligent multi layered storytelling melodies, yet deep, rich and incredibly sensational(T2). Never has techno felt so human! Beautifully crafted, repetitive throughout with emphatic mid bass.(T3)A joy of pleasure in every which way follows, with a simplefunky touch, syncopated towards a mysterious feeling.(T4) For now the production, style and ideas are at a top notch levels and for sure they continue to be so, as if Decoy were making music in a cold European night up in the remote north.(T5) There are sound systems out there waiting for this kind of sound to be played on, with almost no acoustics , deep, techoish, on which, one could spend hours lost in it, and on every play would discover new, fresh and somewhat inaudible sounds for the untrained ear. As we head towards the end of this album, the ephemeral dark feeling smudges and shifts into something new. The sleazy analogue sound, with mutated percussions and a humble transcendent state makes a perfect characteristic music motion, uplifted all the way, slipping into melted emotions ready for that glorious “after dark” hug(T10).

This album for sure broke my boundaries of the known electronic music templates. Some tracks are brilliant, some are not ordinary and foreign, never heard before. It would have been better if this album was made like a mix or a continuous piece of music, hence all the tracks partake in each other. Nevertheless, this is another interesting and a must have release for all the open minded music fans. The artwork on the cd baffled me as well as the booklet with it's ink type vivid drawings and quotes.

What a gift this was! I loved it from beginning to end! A pleasure to hear people still make albums that tell stories and paint an epic tale. Loved it! pure psychedelia. or at least the kind I long for.
