I'm more just curious than anything, but what kind of soft or hard synth is used to get those sounds that sound so magically hi-tek in his two albums on Osom Music?
I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy! |

LOL ^^^ You're most certainly correct!
Soft synth-wise, NI Massive is by far the best I have used for the hi-tech style. Use the step sequencer, make some cool patterns with it (e.g. the first step a quarter of the way up, second step fully down, third step half way up, fourth step fully down - keeping every second step fully down - until you've made a nice pattern that will transform well into a melody...) then attach it to pitch and play around with amount (I find keeping the amount low - medium the best). Instant computery Kindzadza sounds right there! Attach reverb and delay to it and magically transform it into a Megalopsy sound. Oh and find a suitable waveform in the wavetable.
Wavetable synthesis... <3 <3
Oh and phase modulation in Massive is your friend when you wanna make those metallic lead sounds! |

there's that term again! Lads, forgive my ignorance but WTF is Hi-tech. I've heard stuff like Vaeya & Pick referred to by that name, a lot of "Twilight trance" as well and even some crazy nosebleed 3000bpm stuff.
So what the hell is it? Serious question too.

I know how to do it in Disco`s Discovery, but
I gave up to do this job with Massive.
I never get this FM Sound in Massive. I always thought that this is not possible cause of the missing (real) FM in Massive.
What the trick? |

Hi-Tech afaik is a form of psytrance that relies on the use of aggressive distorted leads. Sometimes very melodic but not in the same way than Full On.
Best example of HiTech Psy are:
Bliss, Painkiller, Mekkanikka, Punchline, Orca, Alienn, A-Mush, Absloum, Toxic, Speedball, Kophat, KoxBox, Brainwash...
And yes the boundarie between this and Twilight Psy is blurry wouldn't know how to explain better but with the lead timbres they use.
Hitech is also lots of trickery, uses a lot of mechanical sounds and fills. |
