Wrong.

X Dream said "Live fast - die young"... not so wrong saying "if its too fast you are too old", seems more healthy for longevity...

Stopping to smell the roses/life can be said in all different formats. Its nice to feel the breeze brush against your face, try it.
Rebel Without A Pause, was a good hip hop song for its time. Seek movies as well.. It can bee found everywhere..

I like X-Dream, but I still don't know who said that.
edit: just googled to remember the movie, which was Rebel Without A Cause.
Some people are rebels, some are not, some have a cause, some do not. That's life innit.

It is not a matter of age but a matter of initiation!
And there are not many young people initiated but i think this is older people's fault.
It is also psy culture's fault that it doesn't have any initiation progress for the people who join now.
When i began they were older people who showed me some things that otherwise i wouldn't see or wouldn't understand...
Does this happening now?
I don't think so...
Where are the older people now?
They don't participate often any more.
And they don't care a lot about younger's people future or "education".

I don't believe an "initiation" process should be involved. No one showed me anything when I was a teenager, getting into this scene, I would not listen to them anyway.
I found out on my own what kind of music I like, how fast I like it to be, when to take drugs and when to stop. It was all a good character building experience, figuring it all out on my own, instead of having someone laying all out for me on what I should do/not do, like/not like.

6... like getting together with 20 of your friends, renting a small generator. somebody brings decks. somebody brings food. and going away for a weekend. being older means you probably have a bit more resources (financial and otherwise) than all these kiddies and are able to pull something like this off.
just a bit of food for thought.

I'm fully aware what being selective means but could you try reading the conclusion of my quote : "seems more healthy for longevity".... My perception of your perception of my words, makes me feel you wish to talk gangster or start trouble or bully people around, even pass illusions as if there is an us and them. Embrace the moment of our times and enjoy life.. If you can't keep up, sit down old timer or go where that type of negativity is welcomed..
Reflecting the page : Emotional feeling - joy, fear, anger.. So in my perception, I feel you mean well through fulfillment towards success power, influence, status, & other ego satisfactions

I am sure that at your start you couldn't find drugs so easily and you couldn't stare at people dancing "weird" without getting a slam at your face.
At least i remember many situations like that.
I couldn't say or do anything i wanted without paying the cost for my actions...
Generally speaking...
I learned to respect some things and that's way i gained respect for myself and for the music/culture i love.
Not with violence, this is not the point but my teacher at school always yanked my ear when i wasn't paying attention to the clash...

but aren't you proving his point by saying this? isn't life a learning experience? you are suppose to make mistakes and then learn from them.
it's just a fine line between those two (listening to teachings of others vs. figuring stuff out on your own). it's still YOUR responsibility to put some effort towards figuring things out for yourself. it's still YOUR responsibility to listen to your teacher. he can yank your ear all he wants and he can stand there and explain things to you for 4 years, but if you are not interested in it enough to pay attention, it makes little difference. |

Wrong. There is no deeper meaning in what I wrote. There's no plea to read between the lines. Your perception of things, does make me what you think I am, no matter how strong you feel that.
Back on topic, if something is too fast for my taste, it does mean I am too old, it just means its too fast. Plain and simple.
I like my drum n bass, I like my double bass metal, I like my fast bepop jazz unes, all of which are way faster than kidzadza's tunes, then again I am not "that" old, I am turning 31 soon...and although I do feel like 50 today, after drinking a bottle of rum last night, I generaly don't feel old.

Of course is YOUR responsibility but it is good to have a good teacher who cares about you and cares about your progress.
Otherwise is more difficult to learn i think.
Also you can't judge someone for something that no one showed him even ones.
It is not fair.
Who showed the magic of the psychedelic experience to the young ones?
The situation now is only for money making activities and the young ones are only customers and not students.
That's my point of view about the young ones.
