In the arrange window, scroll down below the MIDI & Audio channels, to the "VST Instruments" folder channel, press the 'plus' to exapand it and there should be a list of the VSTs you've created. You can keep expanding for as many parameters as you want, and clicking on the black text box lets you choose the various automation-able parameters. Also, click the "R" button for that VST channel to enable Reading automation. The grey automation line should turn blue, and you can pencil in points/lines in the automation channel now.

Or click the "W" if you want to record automation from a MIDI controller. That's a whole other topic. In fact, stay the hell away from that until you're comfortable writing in automation etc.

... if you're used to automating in Logic it's easy to look for that stuff in the Cubase MIDI channel above in the arrange window, which is wrong.

Logic keeps all the MIDI and VST automation self contained in a single "Audio Instrument" channel, but in Cubase SX Instrument specific stuff is separated away from the MIDI channel down below in a separate VST Instrument automation channel.

I hope that's clear. I'm typing this at work instead of being productive so I'm saying that from memory. If I left something out hopefully Colin or another Cubase wizard will chime in and correct me.

Oh, automate the send FX itself? They should be in the FX Group folder, just underneath the VST folder in the arrange window. Generally that's the last thing there on the bottom           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604
