each drum in battery works on it's own audio channel if you set it that way katam (lower right corner).

Hey.

Having a bit of an issue with that aswell - quite happy with my percussion at the moment, but some extra tips could always help.

Tuning snares on battery always ends up sounding horrible, even if im just making a minor change. Any tips/ideas how I could get this right ?

you can t use a tuner with percussive elements, what make you choose this open hat than a other it s because it s tuned with your kick and bassline same when you choose a snare but usally it s aproximative, you need to tune it a bit, just a little to get it right, it s all about training your ears

I dont know about tuners...just get the highest quality drums you can get and use those.
as for surrender, you want to have control of everything until the very end when your track is done so bouncing before you got the mix right is not a good idea .
again this is only the way i work and i find it the most controlable, i never go " fuck now i have to find that snare again cause its not punchy enough", its always on its own channel.

tuner indeed

i have more then 6 giga of samples (just single drums section)
i have at least 30 good crash cymbals
why not use in that track with the one thats fit?
i dont like too much to change pitch of percussion so begin with good 1 is the best
still i dont always do that.. do realy drumer think of that when he gets new cymbal? no. he think if it sound nice.. melodic instruments should care more for tuning imo

btw may be here is the time to mention harsh eq destroy/change/fix harmonics           www.sattelbattle.com

Of course real drummers tune drums... obivously a cymbal is a piece of metal that is of a fixed pitch so its never going to go out of tune.

Every time you record drums its a good idea to tune the kit, the drums skins can be tightened and loosened for this specifc purpose.

bro, i think u misunderstood what i wrote.
i bounce each sample that i work on to its own channel in audio, but my source was a tuned and correctly enveloped sample in a sampler.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

some proved concepts:

- a drum seldom comes alone (@ dude )

- the character of a drum is hidden in the attackdynamics

- dead notes make the drums living.

- focus to make the track breathing through the drums.
