distortion works wonders on loops.... tubes and such also... compression of course to make it tight and punchy, sometimes some bitcrusher to make it scratchy.... imagers to throw it around in stereo width           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

It really helps to have the best-sounding percussion in the first place, before processing.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

yes i agree with that - best to tune it all through battery or something like this.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

I second every tip given above. You might also want to try this one:

Dunno if it's killer, but the commonly used trick i posted in this http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/39247/forum/2
thread works for me. Btw, don't be too precise about the eq freqs, just use them as general guidelines and use your ears to find the freqs that fits with your percussions (i have to say this to avoid being told that i shouldn't give freqs)

true...
Turd polishing and all that ya know...

I personally think the most important thing is EQing. Also stereo spacing.

Further effects can be applied as well... but only once you've actually got it to sound as "in place" in the mix as it can.           www.myspace.com/beat_nik

i have to say that we never use battery because then u are stuck inside a sampler....
its much better to use "the best quality samples" and use one channel per sound. that way you might have more channels but you can control each and one of them 100%.

I assume you speak of Battery from NI, and speaking of channels and control, I suppose you are aware of that you can use multiple outputs, both mono and stereo, from the Battery? I use Battery together with multiple outputs and it works great for me anyhow... Sorry if I missunderstood you...            Aural transmissions from the deep forests of Sweden

Yeah, agreed with you on that one... It also gives infinite room for offline processing etc. which is always good...
However, I do see the use of samplers like Battery, I just don't feel they suit the way I work.           www.myspace.com/beat_nik
