Hey Guys,
Think someone ask this before, but i cant find the topic.
So here is the image of the kick from tron - HD - http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/4141/kicktron.jpg
My questions is what makes this waveform at the beginning of the kick, the positive amplitude is bigger than the negative amplitude and vice versa some milliseconds later.
So i know that no producer sit there and build a kick after a pic. but this kicks always sound very very nice and all have this waveform.
So what do you think, i have kicks made myself that sounds "great" but not any of them have this waveform.
So i experiment with bazzism and not processed wavesforms, but no kick look and sound like this kicks, but forget the sound for a second, my interest is more in the "technical" side.
So if anybody have an idea, a suggestion with what to experiment more or an explantation for this amplitude progression,
I would be happy to hear it .
thx to everybody |

a little bit reverb but i choose this time in the track because there is 95 % only kick and bass.
but after what you say i analyze a loop that i made today with clap and 2 bongos and the first kick of the eight looks like the kick when you analyze it alone and the 7 following kicks have the same amplitude progression like you see on the pic i post.
You have an idea why ??

From what I know about this...
See how the tail of the bass line doesn't end before the start of the kick? What I think is that tail is shifting the phase of the kick drum and shoving it into positive amplitude. If it was the kick waveform alone I'm fairly certain it would be centered. Try an experiment of Kbbb but adjust only the tail of the last b and see how it interacts with the kick. For a more pronounced example of this turn up the release on your bass and let it play into the kick. You will see this shifting one way or another +,-.
A good way to do this is using s(M)exoscope to visualize the interaction. Hope this helps

@SineFreq
Hey thx for your explantation, think you right because i bounce a loop that start with the kick and the kick looks normal and all following kicks after bbb looks like on the pic.

Its not the kick playing alone. The tail of the bass is playing at the same time as the kick and shifting the kick waveform into positive amplitude.
