The sonalksis one does a good job coming close to Renoise's native, I havent really tried out the fabfilter one yet, my demos expired cuz i forgot about them...
The native Renoise butterworth 8n sounds smooth as hell too, without any squeals or shrieks as it sweeps up and down, which was a problem i had with teh old renoise filter 2, before the butterworth came in.
Is there any other plugs that do the Butterworth 8 node? Ive been trying to find even ONE, and so far just the Sonalksis, as far as Ive found, does a similar job. Maybe Ill go dig on KVR....
Edit: took about 10 mins, the majority of the filters on KVR are active-fx sorts, rather than passive like I want, but I did find the Brainworx Cleansweep (LOVE brainworx, thsi ones free) and the Engineers Filter, which looks lke the only real promising one. Still would like to know of otehrs
Edit2: YES the Engineers filter has the same settings very nice . |

Unsure about other plugs, but when I was at a friends studio I got to check out the SSL Duende native plugs and the X-EQ plug does indeed have butterworth functionality - http://www.solid-state-logic.com/music/duende%20native/x-eq/

if it is for mix work (meaning not fx sweeps, more like dj sweeps) then i use the basic lowpass filter that comes with logic. usually with 10ms smoothing 3pole filter and automate it.
