Hi Guys,

I was able to create this kick from two kicks but still not happy how it sounds. Tail portion has that boxy sound and not quite tight.

I did add a compressor and limiter. Also the infamous PSP Wintage warmer. Tried fadeing out the tail but each time i do that the kick loses it power. Yes, I have been playing it with a bassline to check out how it would sound.

The real question is "how can I tighten up the from o.20 to 110 ms?"
Share your secret.

Here is the audio:

yo donno if its just me but the file doesn't play.

from looking at the pic only -
it looks like this kick has a tight strong snap, not a lot of body and is boxy at the end like you said. do you have a fuller version of it before verything that is right after the snap was eqed out? if you do try using that one instead and eqing inside your song next to your bassline.

dude, how the hell do you get the bassy part of the kick to fade in like that? these are my favourite kicks!

The only useful things i can say from the image of the kick is that:

The kick is delayed abit. Remove the gap between 0 sec and the kick if you want proper timeing.

It's stereo. No need for that.

Dont use images of waves to judge how it sounds (this is very rarely relevant).

The reason for the gap is most likely because Newbie2006 layered two kicks. Phase "issues".

Cutting the right freq using a high Q value will make the same gap.

with a eq or/and compression .after the attack it s empty ,it can be a eq that remove the shit or/and a compressor with a long attack time , after the bass fade slowy maybe cause of a hipass filter .

I had two kicks. Placed them in a group channed in Cubase. EQ ed first ones high, the others low. Applied PSP Wintage warmer, and compressor to group channel. EQ ed again.

Actually there is no delay at all with the kick. When i was bouncing back within cubase using my Motu, it just left a gap on recording. I should have cut that portion before i took a screen shoot of it.

No wonder, all the low-end seems to be towards the end of the kick. Fading the end out will remove the lows.

My kicks tend to look like this:

The are bass frequencies from the start of the wave to the end so they keep their oomph even when very short.
