Hmm, I have experienced that too much compression also can result in distorion and "lowering of volume" of the kicksample in rolls. |

its getting dizzy! you can still build your kickroll in the midi editor, with a sampler which responds to notelength and velocity, the tighter the roll gets the shorter the notelength gets... its up to you how you want it..
if it clips, change velocity value.. and find where it dosent clip.. a kick that is very very low in pitch will sound more like mud if you dont do like NiCk said.. and also sometimes pitching the kick up a few cents can make it more present.. open for experimentation...
then export it to audio and if needed cut it up and fade out the end of each clip... maybe try a compressor on it.. or why not any kind of fx.. on some short kick rolls it can be nice with some delay and fading in a flanger for the last notes makes it a little trippy for endings to breaks or whatever.
if you think its gets powerless, you could try automating a eq so it gradually boosts the low freq while the notes gets shorter... i think its open for experimentation aswell.. best is probably to get right notelength and not use 64th rolls if you want power in them..
just my input |
