The only problem with it is the fact that it doesn't save the status of key input so I gotta turn it on again every time.
Maybe that's because I'm using the "unsupported" version

okay, got it all working, almost. the only part that baffles me is this:

Pan the group to the centre so that the kick and bass come out of the group in the centre of the stereo field - ie. the group output is in mono.
|
|
I don't get how to do this. so now I've got a nice bass ducking when the kick hits, but only in one channel. panning the group to the left just lowers the volume of the bass in the right channel, as you would expect since it's a stereo group. the way I see it you have to somehow make the group take stereo inputs but output only the right channel, i.e. mono output. can this be done? |

Try right-clicking on the group pan control to get a choice of panner modes. Stereo Dual Panner should do the trick; you can pan each side of the group output wherever you like independantly of the other.

thanks for the tips collin
BUT HELP !! i am confused and going crazy/er! can you help me out please with these few Q's.
I seem to get either solid panning affect or a sweeping kind of pan effect.
Q1. Do you mean the route the "output" of the bass and the "aux send" of the bass to the group?
Q2. Does it matter if "the kick is on a MONO channel" and if your "bass is output is through a stereo channel" ?
Q3. prepost fader in SX3, does that button "lite-up" or "no-light" when pre post is on?...
thanks in advance for any help you can give on this subject!!
I tried all the senarios before i asked and went a little crazy... have you got any idea where i am going wrong?

Assuming you are trying to side chain compress but are abit comfused on the routing for the c1 method, dont dispair. It took me forever to route it correctly and i came to the conclusion that....
its is much easier to use the compressor with side chainer by TC electronics in the TC native bundle 3.1. It's good quality side chain compression with much less hassels than the c1 method.
goodluck

S Cube depends on the size of the kick tail and where do you put your notes. but most of the times you should use it, most of the kick tails are really large.
the 4th note unless it has a small quantitize and a short tail (you can call the tail the release value) it will still be playing when the kick hits, back in note 1). the 2nd note is also usualy affected by the kick tail. if you don't want to use sidechain at all try cutting the kick tail to the max (without destroying the sample) and use 1/32 or 1/64 notes with a really small release.
so... still you should use sidechain
PS: IMHO |

I read this in one tutorial:
"
One well-known producer/
engineer typically records bass by compressing
both the direct and the amplified signal individually.
He then submixes the two signals to a bus and
straps a third compressor across that bus, then
returns the signal to the console before routing it
out again in combination with the kick drum, applying
a fourth compressor across the new combined
signal. And this is an engineer that always places a
stereo compressor across his mix bus - someone
who also, he avows, even relies upon his mastering
engineer to provide yet more compression. Sounds
like overkill, right? But this is someone who has
dozens of platinum records to his name."
So what you think about this?
Never let computers to win a game! :)

Quick question..If i don't have bass notes when the kick is hitting do i still need to do side-chaining?

was asking myself the same thing but i think you don t need cause i never had good results doing it.it ll just control the realease of the kick or the attack of the bass i guess but no need to sidechaine for that |
