but why you dont lower the volum insteed of compressing more

good point, would leave some space for mids/highs too
editet my post above, there I don't have such a possibility...just compressor after the filter?
EDIT: solved...less resonance in the filter when higher freqs

you should definetly start with lower volume your next project.;with kick -12 peaks is optimal for me..but higher is fine too.. |

I usually have -9, but as low freqs are quieter in comparison to the rest in my current room situation I tend to raise their volume 1-2db per make up option mostly, but I am aware of that fact for some time now and slowly deal/learn to mix with that situation...so before always too boomy low freqs and quiet mids/high in comparision when listening on other systems/headphones, gets better except lows(well a little bit better ofc) with every track

You cant get modern psy kick without using vst with 2 pitch envelopes.Bazzism needs little more processing to get it sound good as all other similar that have only one envelope.Try massive or adern kick me,way more control of dynamic shape and less post processing. In the end better is the kick,so is the bassline.

go for adern kick me.. its realy good |

Got some good results with Vertigo VSC-2 compressor.
Don't know if this is standard procedure, but when designing my kicks I sometimes use some form of saturation. The tools for this can change a lot, but have used the Vintage Warmer, Logic's overdrive (gentle settings) and others.
Most of the times, no matter how much time I spend with the synthesizer, I tend to make another layer for the snappy part of the kick, the click of it. I either pick a hat sample or design the click myself using filtered noise with a very fast envelope.
Massive has some very unique sounding noise types, don't know if you guys have explored it. But I'm sure most of you have noticed that those envelopes are not quite fast enough. Even with absolutely no attack. Saw some guy whose name I don't remember now using the performer mode on the LFO section, just shorten the length of it to 4 stages, draw a falling curve and then drag the line curve all the way down. Then just make sure it's set to restart and use the rate knob to adjust the speed. Tried it and got more snappy sounding percussion sounds this way - credit goes to some guy whose name I don't recall... Worth giving it a try, for those of you who have Massive. The "metalic" noise is also great for designing hats (or layers for them) and all sorts of cymbals. |

indeed this synth is beast at drums..it can sound surprisingly analog, i think cause of the density in the mids and the rounded transient sound.
i was using the performer trick in the past even for bassline but it s not really flexible and not really needed. the synth so flexible that you can create a click at the attack, or use a spare envelop with no or very little decay to add snap to modulation and stuff like this..it can even create very plucky sound. ( it can easily be dark and muddy making it not the first choice for lo of sound here but with the flexibily it s possible to overcome this to some degree) |

i think the main problem is that the synth is dark |
