hey mate, also often find when make my own kicks they can be a thin, i don't like much processesing on a kick like try to avoid cutting ,find a quality kik generator like adern kickme usually just some low end boost usually does the trick w/ pulteq style eq.           https://soundcloud.com/alon-chen

Try Image-Line sytrus or harmor. Great envelopes for ball-breaking kicks.

Bazzism doesn't need compression, all it needs is the right settings.

sounds fat round n tight that... i am aware that less is more and im stll in ma experimenting stage...

also if thats a master..surly it will get the compression of sum sort anyway no??

tight minimal kick aint it tho...may not warrant the additional punch of a comp..would depend on what u would wana go for wouldnt it sound design wise?

yeh theres bazzisms amp envelope to control the amount of what your letting thru but sum times that aint enuff after you have the settings adjusted, freq start end and sweep , i do love bazzsim tho ...

may be im just greedy , tryin to get sumthing more out of sumthing when theres no need to....

I used almost no compression on my kicks on my next album, and realy small amounts of eq also. Usually to roll off the freq under 25Hz. Like OOOD said, if you tweek it right it will sit with the bass without a problem

adjusting the envelope on bazzism is just like applaying a compressor over the kick

I am starting to like the Softube FET compressor a great deal on kicks....on everything that lacks slight bite in the high mids. It has this coloration that works a treat on some sounds that lack the slightest bite that you don't get with EQing.
The Wave API2500 is the opposite, it dulls down just by the right amount sounds that are too "pointy".

Regarding kick processing 20 to 30 ms attack and fastest release setting with about 2db of gain reduction (4:1 ratio) is my general approach when I process the kicks I make in Ultrabeat.

try it on green Knee, Thrust and Type, ratio 2:1, attack/release to taste. basically its Old mode is the win.

FET is fat with a touch of drive, glad u mention it...trouble is we spoil t for choice

yes the envelopes are and work in the same way..but sumtimes i want more..like i sed i am greedy

dam straight with the attack settings ..i like oxfords dynamics for thats attack setting..they all different.. hit that spot and its lush

I will use this thread for a kick related question:

So I have a bazzism kick with a compressor on top to bring out the attack phase but after a small 1-2 bar break the master tends to clip when kick and bass come in again, and I noticed on a previous track that the volume amplitude is bigger at that point(defo the kick) when I recorded it in an audio clip...so how to cope with this, I tried to apply another compressor after the first one with inf. ration fast attack and fitting release but it doesn't help           https://soundcloud.com/noordzee-laborant

proably release is long and compress the next attack phase?

it feel more like it s your bass that have long release and peak higher at first note so it clip? if it sound good wihtout excessive pumping just lower faders or bounce and dont use first kick/bass notes

sometimes i do that compress with good amount of reduction and create a groove/pump wihtout high uncompressed transient peaks by using longer release ,it can bring color from the comp, saturation that can be good for some style..but for psy i m not sure this would work as you usually want it clean

it is the kick defo, solo it was clipping too, I made some more gain reduction, its ok now I guess no clipping an does not affect the sound really(that was my worry..should have just tried first damn)

There is still massive clipping when bandpassing kick/bass together with autofilter when sweeping the frequency...can I ignore such things?          https://soundcloud.com/noordzee-laborant

but why you dont lower the volum insteed of compressing more

when you dont squash stuff and just use light/medium compression a trick is to not use any makeup gain first..when you bypass if you can get the compressed signal to sound better , it s really better as it can only be lower your not fooled by loudness ,that can really help to really fine tune your comps specially on complex source like buss
