COOL i learnt it from someone long time ago and i passed it to a few guys around here i didn't know there is a site with screen shots that say how to do it anyway here is the explaination i sent to some people here:

this might help along with the pics (though i use the simple synthetis and not fm)
o.k. it goes something like this:

In soundforge go to file menu and open a new one (set the bit and sample rate according to the one you work with in your sequencer and the channel to mono and press o.k. you'll get a gray mono channel.

now go to: Tools>synthetis>simple
on the dialog box set :
waveform shape to sine
length:0.500
frequency:100.00
Volume: -12 db

press o.k. and you'll get a low sine wave.

Go to effects>pitch>bend [if you have it on a quick use icon it will be even easier for you because at this part you'll use the pirch bend a few times - (you can create this icon by going to view>tool bars, mark the square by the effecs ,press apply and o.k.
and drag the icon to the top of the screen)]

on the pitch bend diagram make an oblique line from upper left side to lower right side and press o.k. , go back to the pitch bend and make it one more time the same thing. (use only two point to connect the line to make it a perfrct oblique line)
now cut a part of the wave's end not too much but don't be afraid to cut .
go back to the pitch band and add a nother point on the diagram (left click with the mouse on the diagram) take this third point and put it very close to the most left side wall of the diagram ,the height should close to the lower grid line .(not the bottom edge of the diagram)
do it once again.
now once again cut the end of the wave not too much so you leave enough bass for the kick.

now go back to the pitch bend and while listening on preview mode play with the third point around the lower left area and also play with the semitones meter on the left side.

press o.k. when you like the sound.
you can do it once or twice again to achive something you might like better.

after that cut the end of the wave again because most probably you'll have a much too long bass end , then mark the very end edge of the wave and make a fade out to get rid of the unwanted "tick"sound.

Now EQ ,normalize And compress it the way you like it.

and.....

tadam......

you got a trance kick.

you should listen and and find the sound that you like, when you cut make sure you don't cut too much so you won't leave bass for the kick but don't cut too little leaving too much wave for the process.

if it doesn't sound good you did not do it correct go back undo and make it again.

hope this helps

The soundforge-kick moves through a large part of the frequency-spectrum, but you can always add, some harmonic distortion with Maxxbass or some other effect.

It's psychedelic trance for cryin'out loud ! (Semi-)Synthetic is good if you ask me... The TB-303 was built to emulate bass-sounds but it lacked many of the natural frequencies of a bassguitar. Who cares ?! It's synthetic sound rocks.

But maybe when you're after a more natural sound you can program a (virtual) analog synth to make the same waveform as in the kickdrumtutorial, and add a second oscillator which creates noise with an envelope generator and a filter. You can do this in Waldorf Attack quite easily. Good luck !

Don't think about natural or not natural.

What rules is the sound, if you like it or not. Use what you like, if synthetic or real recorded.

It is nonsense to think about that.
