You mean global quantize, not signature |

why would the global quantization have to be 1 bar? from what i understand all that is, is when u play the clips, they play according to what you have selected and come in on what you have selected so what does that have to do with the length of the kick? thanks

if you open the clip, there will be four midi notes.
click on the loop brace to select all four notes (they will go dark to indicate they have been selected).
right click (not on the notes, but anywhere else in the clip grid). a list of options will come up - including grid view divisions. set it to 1/16th.
then grab the right edge of one of the kick midi notes and drag it left so it takes up 1 grid space. all of the kick notes should now be 1/16th in length.
bear in mind - if you are using a sampler, depending on the settings, your kick drum may still run on longer - because the midi note will trigger the kick, but the envelope settings might allow it to continue after midi note off. |

Aeon, this is exactly what i meant with this post, even if you do make it 1/16 quantized, the kick still runs longer? what i do currently is use the length to shorten it from 2.00 to about 1.49 or something just enough to hear the whole "click" . Is this the right way of doing it in LIVE or is there a way to change the envelopes on SIMPLER? |

yes, there are a number of ways to get shorter kicks.
you can use the length control, or the loop brace, but bear in mind the tail of the kick is where a lot of the 'meat' lies - all that sub / lo frequency information. it may well sound pretty puny if you just slice that out.
you can also use the sampler itself. simpler's envelope area has three buttons to the left of the attack knob - amp, filter, and pitch. select 'amp', turn the release right down and try turning down the sustain until the kick is audibly shorter.
it's also worth experimenting with the pitch of the kick - moving it up a few tones will make it punchier, less bassy, and shorter. this only works up to a point, beyond which we're in chipmunk-kick territory
really though you shouldn't have to shorten a kick *that* much... maybe try switching samples. |

if u use audiofiles - keep an eye on the fade button - if that is switched on you have an autofade of 4ms which is enough to take away the clicknoise of the kick |
