No matter what I use to sample my kicks in Ableton I'm getting severe fluctuations. Nothing is modulated. I've tried abletons sampler, battery3 and the ableton drum rack. Anybody know what the deal might be?

Its not fluctuating over here, it just sounds really thin.
Import it as audio I guess.

Don´t import kicks as audio and loop it in Ableton, its not stable! Use the Sampler and draw midi.

the kick's shape isn't that good,it starts nice but ther's not enough low-end to make it phat.also it's quite short only 116 length, try to make kicks around 150 to feel the low-end.

you mean ms you dont?
Heavy for me to do kicks above ~100 ms because it runs into the first bass note...
how do you solve that? dont tell me saidchain please^^ its not the best solution..

The kick sounds like I want it to sound. I'm using monitors and I have subs to check it. It's for a dark psy track, so don't expect some beefy full-on kick.
The sample was never imported as audio directly into ableton. It was placed in 3 different samplers all of which appeared to cause problems. Pipe&Slippers claims he hears no problems, and none of you have stated that you do either. So, I rechecked and it must have been my monitoring situation at the time of this post as I had already created the kick and was sequencing on someone elses stereo. There must have been a problem with their gear that caused slight fluctuations in the upper frequencies.

@Tribute - You can change the velocity of your first bass note which will create sidechain-like effect. Also, the AndiVax tutorial has an explanation of an EQing procedure that can relieve this problem.

try to cut low freq from the bass, especially those that the kick is "using".
use spectrum analyzer to do this.
and like spycht said with the velocity thing.

now about your kick spycht,i think the only problem here is lack of subs.try using BazzIsm it can make very phat ones,or you can layer this kick with another kick that has fat low end...good luck

in my opinion every sampler changes the sound a little so i would import the kick as audio - no warping enabled and no fade enabled but hi quality enabled - then it should sound stable and good - at least here it does

Work here with live 7,when i import kick as audiofile and loop, every now and then the attack of the Kick changes.Ableton support told me to use the sampler and it works!

Other than moving the sample back a fraction from the point where the 1st kick plays from, a sampler is the way to go.
