Kick Bass Volume

Hi guys

This simple question:

When you have ONLY kick and bass playing, about what volume should they be (playing toguether). (having in mind the volume of whole track at 0Db)

Around -4db average in my music.
Depends though.

Lately I've been shooting for -2db for the bass and kick, though I think my car stereo is complaining ("doof-bzzt doof-bzzt doof-bzzt").

I would say around -3 to -4, depending whether you want the kick and bass to dominate the track or not.

Mine is about -4!
But I think it depends on what kind of music
you do...
Harder trance means harder kick!

-6 for a fat BASS
lots compress
lots eq
so they can be both big
dont overreact

hey fuzzi i think its ur car's plastics of the dashboard and other parts that make thos "bzzt" noises from the bass... do u have a sub?

no, just the factory speakers. I don't hear the buzz on professionally mastered tracks, just mine.

my car is the final 'test' for a mix - if those speakers can handle it, it's mixed well. (usually they can't handle it )

They shouldn't be at a certain volume imho, just at the volume that YOU think is right
