Here is a quick example...not really sure how it sounds since daughter is asleep and I can't crank it up to listen properly:

One is just a straight signal without notes overlapping with the bass and the other using the technique I described.
Obviously the one without overlapping sounds a bit cleaner but the second one rolls a bit more.

Here is a snippet from a track where I use the technique with a bit more subtle effect:

It works in your track but the frequencies are still clashing your example. Understandable if you can't tweak things properly.
