dont forget to use the band split mode in the sonnox inflator, use it with 40-50% and a -25% curve point, sounds exceptional |

i feel that short plucky notes make for clear low end, and compressing the group channel makes the low end more consistent over the whole measure (beats 1-4, if you are in 4/4 which is 99.9% of trance) so there is a nice steady low end but still clear notes and kick ringing through

Try to decrease little faders of vsti samples exept of k+b
Play kick+bass with no comp no max or warming effects
Open eq ON BASS ONLY- activate band shelf between 50 and 70 - turn your gain down with small q .start from freq of 50 turn in left to 70 , when you will listen clearly punch of the kick... stop ! Now listen it in your track if it has no power ...continue slowly to decrease db of your vsti and samples...until kick + bass will lead your track ! No comression ,also no damage to whole track no overloads clips etc ! The db of your track don't have to be limited or maximized before exporting to mastering , it have to be free run you know ,clearly beautiful optimized wave file ! try it bro ...!

Hmmm....I dont think optimizing the volume of the k and b relative to the mix is the same as compressing the group track. I agree with what you said tho, levels are an important factor in all of this, and levels must be optimized before any group compression.
I presume with the low shelf you are lowering the volume of the fundamental frequency of the bass, but I think no amount of volume or freq specific adjustment can accomplish the same task as compressing the group track: homogenizing the volume of the low end over the entire course of the measure, not just optimizing peak volumes.
however, i will try the bandshelf at ~50Hz bro thanks

i tend to just eq individual channels of kick and bass but usually do compress them together by not much amounts but enough to give that "glue" effect.
carefully and subtle tho cos overcompressing will result in a squashed and lifeless sound.
i think when source is fine from the start compressing kick/bass that have constant volume and no fluctuations on the sound doesn't really do much except of some transient enhancement.
sonalksis sv315 is my choice of compression.
