a bit off topic but one of the nicest things with goa compared to standard psy is that the baselines got more variations, more different structures instead of k-bbb.

Progressive also got more variations then k-bbb,more possibilities to create different grooves and placing bass notes. It is nothing wrong with that regular ,steady bass concept(k-bbb), just thought that it could be worth mentioning whilst talking about goa.

funny you should mention it... atleast in my opinion there is less emphasis on the bassline on goa trance than other types of trance (this is true for the majority of tracks - of course there are exceptions ) which is one of the reasons its so special - the melody/fx/story are emphasized and not the boom boom boom (unlike most of todays music)

100%

If, back in the old days, producers had been able to make basslines with the power and precision available today, I can guarantee you we would have done.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Eesh. That kick + snare both eek me the fuck out. Super stale + annoying to my ears

I like new goa that is inspired by old goa but not trying to make the same music with new tech. This, Goasia, the Nizho stuff, even a good bit of Filteria's stuff just feels old and worn out - bad astral projection ripoff without much progress...            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

it was possible to sample a sh101 or a moog,i think people where not really intrested in getting that precision but more after musicality. i find goa bassline groovy and i love them in many tracks , i find it great it dont have the precision of today sterile and boring basslines, it was forcing producers to get creative
