My first Karoo, and I had expected much more...

Well I reckon the lineup was upsidedown and should have been back to front. In other words the first should have been last and vice versa. Litlle effort went into decorations, enourmous *damn* dreamcatchers dangling from the low ceiling got in the way of dancing, and the floor in the chill-out was cold and wet (we were all soaked before we left the party to face the morning rain), a £12 Squat party!

I just got a text from Bristol : "Astrix was a spiritual experience that actually moved me to tears!," from an ex-teeniebopper admittedly, but It doesn't help.

To focus on positives:
Great to see so many friends again and meet the Manchester crew! Shahara and Jamie Robinson played flowing good sets at the beginning, and EVP's visual projections are brilliant - so crisp and hypnotic. Friendly interesting crowd, and of the few glostick-gurners, most got cut by the sharp-edged mirrors hanging off the dreamcatchers.

Nice afterparty though...

          Within this timeless gathering,
a shining light does dance,
lost from conscious memory,
but visible in trance!

mwahaha yeah, agree with the above, the guy who played last (Dr Spock?) gets ten out of ten for enthusiasm, but I'm sure his tunes would have been better suited to the beginning of the night...*frustration* at not having phat tunes to finish the night off

so besides getting caked in mud and poked in the eye by dreamcatchers a good night was had and yeah the afterparty was sweet

where's jon's review?? He ALWAYS posts a review, how come he posts something in the astrix thread....Jon? You there jon?

hello:) I wrote a long review but it was too critical so I didnt post it.....

now you guys have done it already hehe...

I think the problem is that when a party _ends_ badly then you go away only remembering that part.... like you said MArcus and the dude from Biodegradeable (CPU?) played very good sets and i did dance around a lot..... though i think the sound was not so hot (a bit quiet maybe).

Shelley's set was a disaster area which is a real shame cos _he_ seemed to be having a really good time and seemed really friendly. Trouble was that the music was totally wrong for the time/place. I _like_ ooooollllllldddd acid psychedelic melodic goa stuff (i think that pins it down:) but not at 4am. At that time i want punishing modern sounds.
Oh wellll..... the mixing was good
Edit: i just remembered one extremely good moment in his set... when he played a tune off Radio or We Create our own happiness (I am not infront of my CDs and cannot remember the name of the tune...

thanks for reminding me about alex's

visuals..... i think they were better than usual and in fact were AMAZING!. very crisp as pavi says at a high resolution.... the abstract patterns were extremely hypnotic... a definite highlight of the evening....

i thought the crowd was ok.... lots of friends there which was great, and the fact that antiworld was on at the same time was good hehe!

the venue felt like a squat... we snuck in through a gap in some warehouse concerteena doors... lots of concrete and a wet floor in the chillout. Surreally placed black cab upstairs.....

Ok well I am glad I went.... but to be honest I am just waiting for Son Kite next week and Orion the week after. I have a sneaking suspicion that these parties are gonna blow my socks off
