Let me tell you somthing...
You are all so funny, trying to find the meaning of the "Karahana" word...
you think its somthing great or spiritual,
but its nothing but a plain old "WHORE HOUSE".
yes - KARAHANA MEANS בית זונות
Ask any parsion (פרסי) or egyption (מצרי) if u dont believe.
And as for whats "BALAGAN" means -
its a word in hebrew saying "A BIG MESS"(of the bad kind)
ולכל הישראלים שפה, מה קשה לכם להסביר לבחור ששואל שבלאגן זה מה שהסברתי שזה? |

KarahaNa1:
You are partly right.
It is a "whore house" but not in literal meaning, it's like in hebrew when you want for example to say that your army service was nice and not difficult you say it was "Beit zonot" (whore house).
The same meaning as "karahana" in arabic.
(BTW, almost all of today's israeli slang has an arabic origin)
P.S.
All of said above are "AFAIK" and "IMHO".

Actually, the word Karahana is derived from the hebrew word Karahat, which means: baldness.
In hebrew, the expression "karahat yaar" refers to an area inside the forest where there are no trees. The same way 'karahat' is an area around the head where there is no hair.
The act of gathering in the karahat of the forest and partying there would then be called karahana. The people who attend those strange meetings would become karahanistim, and so on....

I'm getting bald, time for karahanas!
Anyway i'm with Psycho Forest, seems much more logical to me rahter others ideas.
"Balagan" means mess/disorder, i'm not sure it is accient hebrew but it is surely Yidish word. Use this word to discribe a mess or disorder |

For me guys it is not an Israeli topic.
Maybe the word is used in Israel most but we all know about this.
IMHO is useful to know something more about "what is karahana?"
We can read it and there offcurse but I think here most ppl get the infos

Open your mind... |
