A question for the old-timers...
Does anyone know how was the word KARAHANA born and, mostly, what did it originally mean (if it meant anything at all)?
- Replies, guesses, myths and stories are welcome…

I really don't know how the word was originated, but i found this that talks about Karahana.

"A whole culture has evolved in Israel around Trance music. This culture professes peace, love and harmony with mother earth and with other human beings, and it includes clothing, psychedelic artwork, cinema. A big part of the culture includes elements of Hinduism, Buddhism & Shamanism (since India is one of the motherlands of Trance), and an aspect of returning to the nature, harmony and New Age. All of that, without blocking technological progress, all together a lifestyle that is called in Israeli slang "Karahana"." Psynews.org

Peace..

I think the closest word to 'karahana' in English would be intense or intensity - with a combination of energy in the meaning. When you are in a karahana, you are in the intense zone that the music (or drug, or whatever) puts you in. A 'karahana' of a track on the other hand would be the basis of it, the thing which gives it the energy - the reason people like rolling basslines so much is because of this. As to how this was born? Adunno. Names have to be given to things like this.          http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

!Karahana Total!

Castillian madness ..
... also used, when screamed, as:

- total chaos
- balagan
- violent happiness

.. but why "oldtimers'?

i hear this term a lot in amsterdam,
amongst the quite young spanish travellers ..

.. just Q

The oldtimers invented it, spoke it and lived it for years

Danilovix: it has nothing to do with E, it is 100% psychedelia (acid in most cases) derived.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222
