Anyone on this forum using the K-system for reference levels on their mixes

Ive done a bit of reading on this and would like too hear some other opinions about it
As it seems that this is where most software and hardware developers are heading           Â°Â°Â°ACTS 4:12°°°°

I have been using it for a long time, since i read Bobs book actually and love it although i have just moved my monitors into a new room so i need to set it up again.

I have all my meters set to K-14 and have to say love it

already read it bro....

just that K 20 gives you a more dynamic range which i wii probably use for work...but yeah looks like itll have too be
K 14 for the hobby stuff

still trying to get to grips with Digital audio after changing over from tape (fostek Model 80) which sadly fucking kicked the bucket a wee while ago

Also another Q if you dont mind
how are the tracks sounding after there mastered and how do you find them playing on other peoples system

So someone has discovered the flaw in digital audio and that its the sound systems that are wrong calibrated? i dont get this K-system,

I thought people where squeezing the living bits out of their digital audio just so it would sound louder or be perceived as louder.

Can you guys tell me the deal with this? i will try and read but maybe its something you can tell in a sentence? the whole deal with this and how its useful?

would love to boil it down too its essence but am still beginning to get too grips with it

K-20 will give you 20db of dynamic range
K-14 gives 14db
K-6 gives 6db

all add to the headroom of a mix and the percieved loudness and clarity of the audio

its starting to be adopted by several manufacturers
PSP Xenon uses it and also has a pink noise generator to help you set up
Presonus Studio one also uses this system too

It´s main goal is to create common reference levels and it´s very helpful at acting as a thought provoker while working. I use it as a complement to other metering but not as a main tool since most of the stuff i work on exceed those headroom values (imagine that, no dynamics in productions anymore) More importantly my monitor system is calibrated, so i keep the same apparent listening volume when working on projects which helps on consistency immensely.
It was at first introduced into the more unattainable circles of soft and hardware, but it seems now it has slowly trickled down through all the layers (which is great, because it is well thought out and relatively simple to implement) word of warning though....Pink noise is not comfortable at all! Put socks, plugs, whatever in your ears while calibrating. Fiddling around with a measuring mic, after having first calibrated the gain levels of that, is much less fun than making music unfortunately. Might i add on the way out that good music is universally recognized, whereas topics such as dynamics and resolution really is the reserve of a very few people (where hi-fi has a real meaning and does not mean tinny pc speakers) The vast majority just listen and absorb without the burden of knowing what makes the clock tick.           Mastering available here:
