yes the saffire looks nice but does not work with protools therefore this comparison is wrong.
i like the slowtools bit though... |

and if you buy the mbox, the mbox is not the essential thing-/but the pro tools sowtware..that in big building like the icon is able to replace a ssl or neve...

true you cant run the PT software.. Thx for clarifying.. Intention is not to compare the 2. Simply offering the latest technical data I have come accross just in case someone has the itch..

Well ProTools certainly doesn't sound like an SSL or a Neve. And if you just mean the ICON control surface, you can integrate Nuendo with an Euphonix 5-MC http://www.euphonix.com/. Or basicly use any DAW with something like this: http://www.smartav.net/smart_console.html
In other words, any DAW is like an SSL or Neve as far as functionality is concerned. The special thing about them is the sound!
Personaly, I want to have a Soundscape Mixpander in my PC: http://www.sydec.be/Products/Details/ID/a97e9af3-cc4f-46f0-a24e-f6b7f97d2933/Mixpander+Power+Pak/
It is MUCH cheaper than ProTools and the DSP is much more powerfull. Also, It can be used with any DAW unlike the ProTools hardware.

i hav used and mixed on following consoles - SSL K Series, SSL G Series, ICON,Procontrol, control24.
Best Sound: SSL K
each fader costs around 3-5k of what i heard..how can u compare the sound with icon..?
its fukkin beast..if u want to hear sum psy mastered on sSL-K series. Check out - CYANASCENS - LIQUID CRYSTAL
Mastered by me in SSL-K, SAE Studios, Byron Bay, Australia.
The final master sounds immaculate,,transfer it to tape ..still sounds better than anythin else doing same process.

hey i never compared it with a ssl,neve...console...i said its !able to replace! such consoles with the bigger Core TDM systems / and i totally agree djsid  >the sound of the ssl consoles rox solid because of their components and assemblies that create natural and harmonic flow-
but if you are sae student (like me) then you know that this big consoles are about to die off and are replaced more and more by "smaller" digital 1s like the aquarius or the TDM systems---man im really curious to listen to your work now! _can you give me more info please -
