This song is a bomb, but i can't recognise so many VSTi, maybe i have to pay more attention
Anyway i'm used to have a dozen of Albino 3 instances running on my projects (more if i use it also for the drum parts) and a couple of vanguard plus some other for the FX.

Thanks guys,
ohshit, Elad, I guess I did my work well then. Allot of the sounds are layers that should be heard as one sound. Like the bass groove which is made up of 4 different kinda bassy sounds.
There are probably 6 "lead"sounds that start right after the break. If all is well it should sound like about 2 or 3 are playing at any time.
For the rest, they are small little sonic details that may or may not be obvious in the mix but are missing if I remove them. And of course this is only a short section of the track.
Upavas, not that powerful. Its an old dual processor Opteron on a Tyann board with 2GB of RAM (in NUMA setup).
At the time I set it up it was very much cutting edge. I built it when the first G5's first came and Steve "the biggest liar in IT" Jobs was jamering about how the G5 was the first 64 bit personal computer and how bleeding fast it was. Bleeding your wallet for about 1/2 the speed of my little PC creation more likely.
Now? It can't keep up with all the new shiny Intel stuff but .... long live the freeze function!

Nice sounddesign Undertow!! Really precise and subtle. I love that!
I use about 10 to 30 different synths, but at the same time I maximum of about 8 or so.

Undertow,
it is probably more because I am running on a P4e intel chip with what at that time... was the fastest ram out there. What do you mean with NUMA setup? I guess it is really about time I got a new machine... and I'd like your input on that... what to get... ... oh yeah, nice sound you did there, I like!!!

Yeah my system is a bit faster than that.

It stands for Non-Uniform Memory Access. Basically it means that on a dual processor system with two memory controllers (with AMD they are built into the CPUs), you roughly have twice the memory bandwidth compared to an equivalent non-NUMA system.
On my particular system it gives me 2X128bit memory access. Anything that uses allot of memory (like dozens of audio channels with dozens of plugins etc) runs fast and, because there are two memory controllers, very smooth as the system never has to wait for memory access.

I'm not the best person to ask at the moment. I'm not up to date on the latest stuff. Check out the PC choice thread. (Just don't get a Mac unless you plan to use OS X ).

I usualyonly use 4 diffrent synths, and maby two instances of each.
for instance..in my current track i'm using 3osc, 404, z3ta, synth1, about 2 synth1s maby 4 3osc and 1 404..no z3ta yet.
I start with the climax first...i build the hevayest part of the track first..and listen to it for days and days [literally..the amount of time i listen to this 50 sec clip of my climax will add up to several days] When i got the climax i want..i make the rest of the track around that focal point.
What the hell needs 10-30 synths?
also,i didn't count FX as synths..if so...then its ALOT more..lol [ i got like 7 channels with 12 FX on each...] |

Doesn't that completely kill the track for you? If I listen to something too many times it looses it's impact and freshness. (Loopitis syndrome ).
