Yeah we've all seen that thread before. This is largely the case with most artists. (not all however)
In any case, it will be Ido Liran/Quadra playing the tracks that HE PRODUCED himself, live and in person. Be there, enjoy it, don't troll.
Think of it like a DJ set or "live PA" if it helps.
It's going to be some seriously good trance music through the night.

And I actually just looked at the picture you linked above...
Are you saying that because somebody uses Ableton Live that their set is somehow worse?

nonsense. I use ableton every single day to make music, and to play it out. It's the best program ever.
But look at the picture again. He's got his entire set lined up, and its just one mastered track running into another mastered track. Hell, there's not even much crossover mixing time. Not only is he not doing a THING to the music on stage, he CANT do a thing. i would be willing to bet that he's just dancing around like a jackass.
You're a dj, right? What he's doing here is basically the same as pre-mixing your whole set onto a single CD, putting it into the CDJ and jumping around for an hour. you'd be laughed off stage.
ableton is capable of SO MUCH. you can do SO MUCH with it to make your music interesting and different and special on stage. that's why it infuriates me to see people do what this jackass is doing.
tell you what. when he comes to hang out with you before the show, ask him what he does to make the show different every time. just ask. see what the answer is.
even if i DID live in in LA, and even if i DID like full-on with Epic Trance influences and female singers (bwaaaahahaaa), i wouldn't go see this goofball.

First video you linked, the audio seems to be taken from a different source than the video. Second video, I see what you are saying. But then again, look at how happy he is making that crowd, and listen to the quality tunes.
To tell you the truth, I'm one who subscribes to the train of thought that if the end result is good, who cares about the medium. If a DJ was doing this, yes absolutely they would be laughed off stage. (If the crowd noticed). As a producer though, it's not so atypical. Quadra is most certainly not the only artist doing this. As I said, Ido Liran/Quadra will be there, playing the tracks that HE PRODUCED for us. The method of playing those tracks is a secondary thought as far as I am concerned.
And yeah, if it was me up there, I would probably just be using CD's in his shoes. One thing I will point out, is that the psytrance world is one of the few that focuses in on the "live act." If you go out to the trance/house/techno/mainstream clubs, the standard headlining act will not only play their own tracks, but a mix of tracks from other artists. They rarely/never separate out a "live" from a "dj" set. And most of these guys, regardless of skill level, are using CD's on stage, as the most universal and convenient medium to play tracks. Anyway, I wouldn't mind if psytrance took a few cues from this. I really wouldn't mind hearing an artist playing their tracks, mashed up with their favorite tracks by other artists. If you ask me, this can be a much more engaging experience than most "live sets."
In any case, as long as he makes the crowd dance, and gives us some high quality music, nobody that I know is planning on nitpicking.
If you're not showing up to see a "live act" you can still show up to dance to some killer psytrance, from not only 1 world class producer, but several impressive DJ acts as well.

@konflux: painting is not music.
fail. try again.
@chemistry: what would i have him do?
how about make a pre-mixed cd, play it and dance around? why bring a computer at all?
at least he wouldn't be pretending that he was playing live. just make a single cd (ok, 2 if you wanna do a 90-minute set)
if you go to the trouble of bringing a fucking laptop computer to a gig and (presumably) paying for ableton live....USE IT. Ableton can do loads and loads of crazy shit to make your live set more interesting. and LIVE.
Basically this guy paid, lets say, $2000+ for a laptop+sound card+ableton, and he could have paid $.25 for a couple blank cd's, burned off his studio computer.
lame sauce.
