For full power i'd recommend Pro Tools or MOTU but i doubt you'd have enough money to afford them. As for cheaper solutions i'd recommed Delta 44 or Delta 66.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

A pro sound card won't give you the full power of the JP, just better recording quality

If you need a card with midi, you can try Audiophile 2496 from M-Audio.

www.m-audio.com

Their Delta 44/66 are probably everything you need if you already have a powerfull PC/Mac and Cubase/Logic Sequencer.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Because compared to FL those two programs are about as enjoyable as having your testicles cut off, without any painkillers.

Hahahaha, colourful description but as far as i experienced totally untrue.
Working with Cubase (SX and higher) is pure bliss.
Now as for Cubase 5.5 and predecessors, well, John Goodman in "Big Lebowski" said it best:
You are entering a world of pain!           Everyone in the world is doing something without me
