planning to buy this drum machine, wondering if anybody here uses this box and has something to share about it.

i think i like it because of the max program that controls it in ableton. looks very easy to me. and heard good things abt the sound.

if you are after more oldschool sound it s great, for modern production you will probably need to work on the sound with processing layering ect.. but that could be said for most drum machines
it s one of the best sounding jomox box, totally forgot about it actually.. for how much you can get one?

Not sure about that actual unit but a mate of mine has the xbase 999 as well as the Elektron Machinedrum.

He said the Jomox products he's had, he also owned the xbase 09 for a short period, always seemed to have issues with the clock/timing not working properly. He found Machinedrum was much more value for money as far as quality drum machines to.

I just called him & he also said unless you really want the old acid house sound avoid Jomox, and get a good set of samples instead.

I've played with a lot of his gear (he has 2 x TB 303's, a Korg MS2000 & MS2000B amongst a lot of other retro gear) & Machinedrum would be the only drum machine/computer I'd ever buy now-a-days. It's worth saving for. It does so much & is fun to use live.           Cuntus Maximus.

ok, thanks for that info, well maybe i will sell it soon after i tried it. i dont think i will loose a lot of cash. read of several people who sell it because they buy a tempest, so i thought of it as a poormans tempest. they are positive abt the sound but true they are not into psy. syncissues are nasty make the box useless. did not read abt it before i read your post. cross my fingers. good to know that if i run into syncissues its probably something with that box and not my seq/soundcard set up. main reason to buy it is the attraction i got lately for dedicated outboard gear (and a cashbringing job making it possible to modestly collect). and yes all Elektron stuff is very sexy, but i dont find cheap offers.

here the price is around 300 so you should not loose cash.

the thing with my jomox stuff is that it need good amount of processing to sound great, saturation compression and eq and after that it s

i was playing with a beat psytrance full on.. with some vermona and jomox drums that i processed .. sounded really good to me with big depth/dynamic , more fresh than stuff coming out of roland box (but the roland are amazing in term of punch and don t need much work to sound great.. but it dont sound as original )

the vermona have a very synthetic sound, like the drums come out of a modular.. to me it salmost mroe a drum synth than a drum machine as you can combine each track to synthetize a sound ..it can be huge .. great box too..

you can hear lot of jomox in oldschool psy btw when it was still made otb, it s the poor man drum machines.. i used one of their first one back in the days dont even remember the name but i remeber it was slaming on on pas. these box can have nice dynamic/depth.

i think you will get nice kick and snare out of it, and the rest might be sample based that are maybe bit dirty ,should be good too..

using it, no sync issues, the first snare i tried sat right away good in the mix, stunning. ohh i like also very much. dont know abt kicks, need layering probably. bit decadent to have a box only for snares and ohh's but good enough for me. the big difference compared to samples is that you can still tweak a lot . with samples i feel like you loose them pretty fast           http://soundcloud.com/vipal

you cna make good kick out of it with processing.;but depend your taste. i have a few sample coming of it that are nice . the sound is thick ! but it s not usual zap kick, it s between a 808/909 kick , that can work nice for psy, maybe laerying a hat on top or using a other attack
