Did any of you see the Jean Michel Jarre Concert in Monaco yesterday?? It was shown live on Euronews and streamed on the internet in a lot of places, and you can watch a lot of it on youtube now.

Apart from the fact that he jumped around with his hand in the air a bit too much for my tastes and kept hitting that High-hat all the time, I was seriously blown away! First of all I have always had a soft spot for him and have been listening to his music since I was a little kid, so it was great to hear a lot of old classic mixed in with some cheesy, but totally appropriate for the occasion newer stuff. And the lightshow and fireworks that he apparently designed all by himself to go along with the show were out of this world and perfectly choreographed with the music at all times. Really an experience for all senses

And then, just the amount of hardware he had set up on stage was staggering!!! There were like 20 synths and keyboards set-up around him, including some old-school modular synths ones, and he kept going back and forth between. Imagine what kind of "logistics" it requires to set up all these synths in the right order and also for him to find the right one in time. And that was just him, there were three other guys with just as many synths playing along him as well!

And then, even though I cant stand all that royal wedding hype bullshit, I thought it was pretty cool that the concert and fireworks was a gift from Albert to his people and that him and Charlene actually hung out to see it all, even though they must be stressed out as hell with all the proceedings. And the fact that he selected JMJ and not some old rockstar or classical orchestra made him even more sympathetic in my eyes.

Anyways, very cool, affter watching that I went ahead and got me some obscenely overpriced category A tickets for his concert in Munich in November. I know the light show won`t be nearly as cool, but Im sure he Wont disappoint

And now, I shall leave you with Oxygene 4, performed live in Monaco!

PS: The way he started the concert was priceless. He arrived on a boat, then walked through the masses onto the stage while a countdown was being played in the background. The similarities to Jesus Christ were probably fully intentional. That is actually one of the things I like the most about JMJ, he is a complete megalomaniac and very proud of it too!           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

I guess you have to be a strange and peculiar person to pull off the things he pulls off, like I said above he is a first grade megalomaniac!

BTW, what are the strange and peculiar things he does, do you have any juicy details ?           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

For me this music is boring. Thanx.
It hurts to see him have all this gear and not using much of it (all show?). And, yeah, the music is not really complex either. Well, maybe just not my taste. Dont want to diss a megalomaniac. *g*

Gunter you got to keep in mind that he created all this music something like 35 years ago,i dont know if you can understand how difficult and innovative this was back then. And Oxygene is a real masterpiece album even for todays standards in my humble opinion.

Aje no juicy details for public LOL           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

mm, I know that, but still I like other music of that time much more, e.g. Klaus Schulze. JMJ is just too cheesy for me

e.g. this is a early work of Klaus Schulze and this is really complex:

Also lots of Krautrock bands have used syntesisers more innovatively as JMJ, just for my taste.

I attended the JMJ concert last year, it was a huge show with the fireworks and lights, really something special.. I don't like his music either, I have the respect for it and do enjoy some strokes here and there, but mostly his sound gives me a not so good feeling. I watched the show among 70 000 others with my at the time- girlfreind, in the rain on cruches (was working as a stagehand on this JMJ concert a couple of days before the show and fell down hurting my foot), on shrooms+2cb AND at 00:00 when the show ended with a massive firework show, I turned 30 years old Was a very special night for sure with all in all! .. JMJ tried to finish the show like 4 times it seemed where he wanted to create some kind of orgasmic ending with 100 000 flying sources visiting and seing his lightshow from above.. It became too gut cramping for my taste, or what the expression is. And no, it was not the druqs, it was the JMJ experience.

Well, I agree that his Music is cheesy, but I like cheese, and some of that cheese represents some very dear childhood memories for me. And also I don`t listen to his records that often at home, but the combination with the lightshow and fireworks is what makes it stand out. Its not just music, its like a full 360 degree performance for all senses.

Thats why I got the tickets for the live concert in November, after seeing the Monaco show on TV I want to take it all in first-hand. Theres one in Dresden, maybe you should check it out as well, Gunter           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch
