Well Fatali, I was actually told that you blew of some organizers last weekend in Denmark.
I won’t take sides, as only you and the organizer know what happened - but remember that there are always two sides of a story!

just about the money upfront or after:
(maybe a stupid post, but anyway)
then if giving the money before can be bad because the artist dont play, and giving after is bad because the organizer may not pay, then why not simply making a deal that the artist gets payed when he goes up on stage, just before he plays? then he gets payed, and people know he will play... |

If you could kindly read my post again, I think you could find out that I'm not against artist getting payed in advance. Its clearly stated that its not fair when artist gets paid in advance and not playing. Huge difference. |

well, changing my music style , just because my opinion about getting the money before the gig.. seems weird.
i have to admit. that with all the problems there usually is with organizers. and getting your money at all. i do understand why acts wants their money before.
man if i had been paid all the times the organizer fucked me .. i would actually have made a living from this from time to time.
there are always two sides of a story . and im not saying that Borelli, The organizer, Fatali , or anyone else is right.
i just have to say that starting a thread like this , requires and explanation!!!!

But i have never ever had hassles with any of the artists or DJ's that have played at our parties. |

If i was a promoter i would do what he said, and if the artists still wants to run away all the people in the party will see and make their jugments about him...

yeah mogg, thats what I mean.. Then for sure the artist gets payed, and if he doesnt want to play, Im sure he will have a hard time finding other gigs next time.. I mean, people would for sure get angry and disapointed if they see the artist going up on stage, receiving the money, and going away..
btw, off topic, but cujo, your music kicks ass..I have some amazing memories of a party a friend played some music from you, specially ´alien snack bar´ .. Damn I could almost see some giant alien tentacles coming to get me, hehehe. Hope to see you play someday, and hope you release new stuff =) |

new stuff is coming though.. the third album is beeing prepared (find it weird calling it the third one, as the first one never got out, and the second one was cancelled from label problems..)
a few compilations here and there
anyway,, back to the real discussion .. Money is the way the world works. there is no other way you can get paid.
i know many people don't do it for the money, but money is still the only way that a person will be able to buy food and pay the place where he lives.
i played at several parties, where the promoter just vanished.. never paid.
doesn't pick up his phone afterwards.
getting paid . only half.. loosing money because the transportation was very expensive.. it's just . the first couple of times you just want to go and play . but loosing money on it , after a few times gets really boring... and the fun part disappears.
the promoter could just ask you to play for free instead straight away.
instead of lying?
now . i don't know why we got onto this subject. because the real subject was actually a guy getting paid. and then not playing.

WOV WOV.......... what a thread the organizers started here..... I wonder if they spoke to jean borelli at all .... I DONT THINK SO..... ACTUALLY.. I KNOW THEY DIDNT!!!!..Im a good friend of jean borelli, and i was there too at the infamous party in the swizz alps....
what i saw, and what i heard from jean borelli when i spoke to him a couple of days ago is as follows:
1. the weather in the swizz alps was close to 0 degress especially on the saturday night and sunday morning where it was snowing HEAVILY, with a visibilty of almost 0,,and you couldnt even see the mainstage from 20 feet away...that meant that there was absolutely NOBODY on the mainstage..which by the way..was covered in snow and thick mud..so it was impossible to dance anywhere...this is of course nobodys fault..organizers etc..etc....but why didnt they rent a circus tent or something..this is a thing that a lot of other swizz organizers have allways done here in switzerland..to have a plan b,,in case of bad weather....hmnnn....because of that, they moved it down to a little room with place for around 200 people incl. the people who slept on the floors all over the place, because they were freezing their asses of outside...fair enough...
BUT...back to the point.....
I met jean borelli sunday morning 5. 30..one hour before he had to play..outside with his bag with his liveeqiup.tryingto find any organizers in charge of the party to hear what was going on..if he had to play on the mainstage ( which was impossible ) or in the small room... he was trying to reach the organizers by phone several times, with no answers..we even went up together an knocked on the door to the room where the organizers was supposed to stay,,but no answer...he went to the restaurant to find just anybody who knew what was going on..but no luck...and i tell you guys..he had his music on him..but didnt know what to do...no stagemanager or anything...he spoke to one swiss guy and told him after waiting from 5. 30 - 08.00 that he would take the cablecar down from the mountain, and that if he saw any organizers, they should call him,,because him and his girlfriend was freezing their asses off, and he was also a little bit nervous if they could get to the airport in zurich to get the flight back home and because he wasnt sure if there was any control on the party..playtimes etc. ..thats why they went down.....but he told me ..that they didnt call him att all...and therefore he went to the trainstation and took a train to zurich with all his luggage etc..etc..i stayed up there to see if i could find anyone in charge,,but i dont know the organizers,,and those i asked didnt know anything....my question is now....WHY THE HELL DIDNT THE ORGANIZERS CALL HIM, and asked him what was going on before they posted this stupid message in here,,and even sended out emails to people..jean borelli said that he would have loved to come back and play the gig he was booked for another time..free of charge of course..because he allready got paid for the gig he was supposed to play at... I dont know what is going on with the moneystory,,,but im sure that if he intended to leave the party with the money, he would have left saturday after he got paid,,and not stay til the next morning where he went out and was ready to play...SHAME ON YOU organizers man...fuck..you didnt even bother to give him a ring to hear his side of the story........jean borelli has been playing for over 10 years, and im sure that nobody can tell any bad stories about him...hes a superpro. guy..and allways a nice and friendly person to hang out with..... So this is the story that i know of,,and becuse i was there, i can confirm the details here mentioned
....

There's no truth in the middle here. This is exactly what happened. I have known Jean for many years and I trust him 1000%. He have never lied to me or anyone else I know and the's got no reason to lie about this story which is the exact same he told me. Nice to see organisers try to ruin his name just because they screwed up... Typical unprofessional organisers with no control over their own event! There's way too many unprofessional people in this scene that should stay home in front of their TV instead of trying to do things they cant handle. |

Yep two sides, and I guess in the end the only thing coming out of this is that the artits is getting bad named, and the organiser gets to blow his load on the bigest trance net... now I I don't know hwo is right or wrong, but maybe they could sort it ou and become friendly again... about my earlier statements, I still know of occasions when the artits definitely ripped off promotoers, but as proved this is the case. Maybe written contracts are the only true way to go... a legal document can't be argued against. |
