You talk about respecting the fans... sure. But what about respecting the artists? I dont see much of it here. Instead I see a bunch of people jumping to conclusions as fast as they can fart and as usual the typical stereotype posts about what the labels and artists should do ect. ect. Kind of boring in the long run 
I dont know what happened between Jean and the organisers (But I will ask him) and none of you know anything as well... So is it too much to ask for that you stop attacking him until you know what really happened?
Or are people guilty in your mind before proven guilty? |

i find it quite weird that the promoter only says >you are an asshole<
instead of saying something constructive about what Brian actually did.
i know Brian as well (though it's been awhile since we last hung out)
but i find him very friendly. never heard of any problems with him.
Some say it's not fair that he got paid fully, yet he didn't play.
i think it's quite fair.
i believe you should actually get paid even before you play, and it's up to the promoter to decide when.
I believe that Brian has experienced so many times, having problems getting paid, that he wants his money first, then he plays.
He must have a good reason not to play.
If Brian is really an asshole, then tell us the story , instead of framing him like this and just saying he is one without any proof, without any word of WHY he is an asshole.
This is a stupid thread.
and it's completely like watching Ricky Lake on tv, stupid discussions about stupid things, about stupid people, without any real constructive explanations or questions.....
someone says something bad about someone else, without any hold of the story... maybe the story is true, maybe it's not . we will never find out ,unless someone opens their mouth and give a good explanation, instead of this childish behaviour >you are an asshole, my dad is bigger than yours, the weather was bad, we all got wet. buhuhu!!!!<

I wasn't talking about Orion, I know nothing abou that party. I find many artits to be very nice, actually Tim Larner, Sensient lives near me and last year we spent quite a bit of time hanging out, great guy. I"m just saying that I know of quite a few times here in Australia when big names have simply just not turned up, one time they even demanded the extra cash for a flight they missed, and still didn't turn up. I"m not saying who did it, but it just isn;t right. Like it is said above, you don't ring up your boss and say fuck it I"m not coming in, can't be bothered, missed the train but give me the days pay do you? If I pay a large part of my income, $150 Aussie, I feel darn right ripped off when I get there to find a notice saying the headliner didn;t turn up, couldn't be bothered. Sure they migh be nice, but being nice doesn't makeup for running your business badly. All it takes is the refunding of the money. Nobody loses aything much, the fans will be dissapointed, but at least nobody is ripped off, and maybe the promoter can pay for another top act to fill in. It's just not right to take cash for something you promised to do and not do it. Whatever you reckon you guys/girls, but what goes around comes around, and if you fuck someone over, you're gonna get fucked back! |

I find it very hard to understand why its fair an artist getting paid in advance and not playing. If he doesn't play he should return the money on the spot and pay for his tranportation back to his country at his own risk. Simply because he fofeited his job. In a regular business world, if there is a contract, this is a breach of contract and the promoter have a right to file a lawsuit against the artist for damage that has been made by his actions.
Well, this is not a regular business environment in most cases. So its totally up to between the promoter and artist.
But promoter paying for International air fee, accomodation, food, full advance payment for the gig and gets nothing but disrespect and losing his face and trust to his crowds coming a long way from home.
You say its fair? |

If the artist himself , doesn't want to play ,, it's not fair ...
if the promoter just cancels the gig. or the promoter tells him not to play.
there is no reason for him to pay the money back!!!!

It was reeeealy a lot of swamp on the dancefloor ...
i even couldn't bleve that ther is sooo mutch swamp and still snow !!!
The Party would of been Reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaly a blast ...but the weater was the reaseon for this disaster and there was nothing else to do as to make the Party indoor to keep the vibes awake ...

Every Artist who is playing in switzerland get lot of respect and Attention ... u can ask everyone ...
an at this Party the Promoter allways take care uf us from the ones io know and chilled with ... (Space Buddha , Rastaliens , Sirius Isness , Mekkanika )

The reason why most artists today prefer to get their money before they play is because too many times too many promoters have runed away with the money or refused to pay because they "lost" money.... You can bitch as much as you want about how unfair it is that artists get their money up front .. it wont change |

I know how live as Artist is ...i'm also one and play like everyweek somewhere ...i also got Parties with no fee or the Promoter or also he was running with the Money ...
I get also most time the Money before i play and i make a proper contract ... just with friends i don't make those things ...
and when i get the Money before then i gonna play also ...
I never said something about artist who get theyre money in advance ... !!!
I'm just against ppls who got the money before the Gig and don't play !!

hey,ive played in Switzerland few times,and every time it was perfect! but ppl should understand here that not every time the artists is the asshole or what ever
as for me ,i had for my 1st time in my life real a bad expirience with a promoter org that was realy asshole !
not resposnibole and did bad thing's
i dont know what's happne in switzerland with orion
but u need to wait to see what he has to say
