This party was excellent, had such a good time. I will post my full review later, but the Tomatos absolutely KILLED IT! One of the best dark LIVE sets I have ever seen. They pull every ounce of energy out of the crowd!

Aaaah. What a party. Totally worth flying down to the windy city for a one night gig. Full props to Ascension for doing the party so well considering it was his organized party. Full marks to you dude! Have not danced so hard in an indoor party for quite some time. It was full power for me for 13 straight hours. Hoping body dosnt give soon.
Musically, OMFG - Unwashed Tomatoes has to be one of the most underrated and underappreciated acts in Nor Am. Some serious business in their set. Tried hard taking breaks in between but could not Smiley They were that good. Apart from them, the music and flow was point perfect except Abe's first tracks in his set. Haha, he was going to light but props to him to understand the crowd and get back to harder stuff. Toki first tracks to start the night was perfect and Geal ending two tracks even better Smiley Nick and Nick got down to some nasty business from track #1. Had to take a break for Professors first hour as I drained out after Tomatos but was back in full force when he went on more twilight stuff. Good stuff! Kevin and Abe continued the onslaught. When Chris and Derek came on the stage, it was almost impossible to believe that it was your first tag set. Haha, looked like you guys have been tagging for years now. Perfect flow and chemistry. Never I felt that one of your is changing the flow. Consistent, melody and hard South African style. Best of all, I was able to recognise bunch of tracks that you played. Even better Smiley Maybe you guys should come out with tag name Smiley ColGon
Vibe was thick and powerful. Saw 90% of the crowd on the dancefloor during Tomatoes set. Always good to see lot of people in the dancefloor. Deco was simply MAD. Props to whoever helped out in the deco. Huge respect to you guys!
Only one thing, why do everybody has to go rest and sleep for morning? By the time Chris and Energon started there were hardly 10 people on the floor even though they kicked serious ass. This is what differs psy from other music. You got to enjoy the full spectrum.

I want to thank EVERYONE for making this event a complete success. Everyone contributed in some way to make this event as great as it was, even those who just showed up and danced.
Now for the specifics. I want to thank all the DJs/artists who performed. I really felt like everyone put their best foot forward and made their set as winning as possible. Geal and Toki set the night off perfectly, such good tunes to get everyone going early on. Nick and Nick gave the dancefloor a shot of darkness that had a lot of people moving. Unwashed Tomato- holy fing crap! That was one of the best (if not the best) dark LIVE sets I've ever seen. Not only was it powerful, moving, quirky music, but it was enjoyable for everyone (as they said this is what they have been working towards). It's always great to see not only almost everyone at the party out there dancing their ass off, but many people who usually do not prefer dark music getting completely down to it too! Scott and Igor commented that you guys have improved tremendously since the last time they saw you and I can only imagine that you will continue to. More people need to see the Tomatoes, they are superb artists and fantastic people, I could not have imagined a better choice for a headlining artist! Brad and Saundra and unborn Bodhi - first husband/wife/unborn child set ever? I don't know if that's true, but I would think it would be classified as the best one ever. Saundra has such good taste in music, I absolutely loved the track selection and DJing skills were also spot on! I had so much fun tagging with Abe. This was our first time ever tagging and I think it went over better than I could have imagined. I was feeling tired before our set, but being up there playing tracks and listening to what Abe was playing really re-energized me. I really liked tagging with someone as energetic and enthusiastic as Abe, I felt compelled to match his energy through track selection and stage presence. Derek and Chris also laid down a lethal, first time tag set as well. It felt like it fit perfectly into that time of morning, it was heavy for the most part, but had a very loose feel that made it easy to groove to. Machi/Scott/Airyck tag was another phenomenal first. I had no doubts that these masterful DJs would play nothing other than a spectacular set. Once again, thank you so much to everyone who played their hearts out!
Deco was absolutely fantastic. I could not have planned it to look any better than it did. There were a lot of people who brought deco and through their own planning/vision, they created a truly psychedelic atmosphere that encompassed the entire venue. I liked the "art show" style display set up at the back of the room by the mirror. I saw many people walk over there to look at all the art pieces. I thought it was a nice touch to have deco setup at a distance from the dancefloor. It felt like more people could really appreciate it, rather than trying to view it only while dancing/facing the speakers. Thank you Derek and Carli for the beautiful altar. Thank you Scott for bringing the spandex and those who helped you hang it into a psychedelic web to the sides of the stage. Thank you Cliff for you amazing works of art. Thank you Leo, as Carli said, you are becoming a great artist (the serotonin piece was beautiful!). Thank you to MOP for your lovely tapestries. Special thank you to Nick and Airyck for fixing the MOP cannons and blacklight panel, they really helped illuminate the mass of deco present. Thank you to TimClark and Heidi for bringing extra black lights. Thank you Jonas for the skull altar. Thank you to anyone else who contributed by bringing deco or helped setup/teardown.
Big thank you goes to Nate and Ryan for bringing and helping tech the sound system. It sounded great the entire night (hopefully you guys figured out what happened to the high packs in the morning). Also thank you to Chris for bringing the Korg Zero 8, it was a lot of fun using a new mixer. Thank you to Ben, Max, Carli, Tyler, Derek, Nick and anyone else who helped run the door so I could get other things done.
I learned a lot throwing and organizing my first party and I know it won't be my last. Hope to see everyone back at the Hub on March 14th!

HOLY CRAP... where to start!? This event was much needed, and was flawlessly executed (IMO)! Way to go Kevin!!!
Organization: Kevin did such an incredible job organizing this event, it was hard to believe that it was only his first one! It was so great to see how the excellent communication in the forums helped to not only get some of MOP's black lights fixed for use at this party, but it also inspired others to bring their own black lights to contribute to the event! Excellent team work, led by Ascension, to make this event a truly amazing one! Great line up, perfect flow, and awesome job of uniquely starting the event by kicking things off with Suomi and ending things with Progressive. Great job finding a new and intriguing headliner in addition to organizing such a kick-ass event Kevin, and everyone else that helped out!
Deco: Damn son, the more of these events I attend, the more I realize that the Midwest is the place to be... we've got so many brilliant artists residing here, so generous and willing to help, contributing their awesome art and lighting out of the goodness of their hearts to enhance the event and the experience of others! Cliff continues manufacturing such amazing, large pieces of art for display, it blows my mind how his collection grows every time we see him! Such a power house of art, Cliff had pretty much the entire rear portion of the main room smothered in mind-bending art. How awesome it is to have this guy around! Same situation with Leo... You continue to make more and better art each time we get to see you bro! I had never seen the Serotonin piece before, so I am guessing it was somewhat new, and in combination with the other deco you brought (the masks, paper plates, drawings), you really helped fill in any gaps that were left over in the back after Cliff's stuff was all displayed. Such awesome creativity, and huge props for incorporating science / chemistry / neurotransmitters into your art, I really am looking forward to seeing more and more art from you my talented friend! Another great example of this talent is Derek and Carli! How the hell do you guys keep making new and elaborate altars!? Never have I seen an altar design or theme repeated by you guys, and it just amazes me how you continue to create, substitute, and add little pieces to the altars to keep them fresh and evolving. Those uv-reactive craft mushrooms you guys made blew my mind on several occasions... i found myself just zoning out staring at them while dancing! Thanks so much for all the contributions you guys have made to the community you guys, its soooo reassuring to have such a powerful art and deco community supporting these events. Another huge props goes out to Scott and Igor, for not only purchasing so much beautiful spandex, but for also for taking the time to share and display it so intelligently! Kevin and I agreed that the spandex display to the right of the speakers was absolutely phenomenal. Like a psychedelic spider web or spandex jungle of some sort! Also a big thanks to Heidibear and TimClark for contributing their extra black lights. It was great to meet you guys and to see you helping out with the event! Sorry if I missed anyone else who helped with deco, thanks to you too if I did... its just awesome to have so many great folks working together to make each event better than the last. Thanks for all the deco help everyone!
Music: Such an excellent idea to have a tag-team-set only party Kevin! It was very cool to always have two DJs behind the decks, keeping each other energized and motivated to keep the performance going! The flow / line up was amazing! It was awesome to have the headliner start so early and play for so long, it gave everyone a chance to experience the unique and powerful music of the Tomatoes! That was the longest and hardest that I had seen many people dance during a dark performer, which was awesome to witness!
Geal and Toki did a great job of firing up the night, and even though Jess and I did not show up until close to the end of their set, it was awesome to have such funky and groovy beats to get the body warmed up for the stomp. Groovy, fun stuff, which did an excellent job of kicking off the night! Nick and Nick did a great job as usual of throwing down that high-energy, deep, dark night time Psytrance, which really helped keep everyone glued to the dance floor as people continued to show up. Although you guys started a wee-bit dark for the beginning of your set, it was still groovy enough that people were stompin' like crazy from start to finish. Such a great way to set up the dance floor for the Tomatoes, you guys did an excellent job with some very explosive tracks and some very precise mixing! Ah the Tomatoes... the Unwashed Tomatoes were fuckin' RAW! I did not expect such well-produced music from them because I had not really heard of them before, but I was totally wrong for assuming this. These guys are masters of the darkness! Their style of dark was so fun and interesting, so many unique and sharp sounds and noises, all layered to fit so precisely with their ultra-deep and powerful bass lines! It was so fun to try and hang on for the ride, I had to take at least 2 or 3 breaks during their set to calm my mind and re-center myself. Even Jessica was dancing to the darkness, which came as a huge surprise to me, and others I am sure. Great job Tomatoes, I hope to see even more of them sometime soon! Although I was initially disappointed that Zero Six was unable to play with the Professor (because these guys seriously throw down the hot business together, as anyone that stayed until the end of Apsylum for the Unsane would know...), learning that Sunra would be performing with the Professor really helped keep me excited for their set! I had never gotten to see a Sunra vs Professor tag, and knowing that their unborn child was getting down in the womb with us was such an amazing thing to witness! You guys have a great stage presence! Sunra's long and elaborate dreads really go well with the high-energy dark style of music that she spun. Combined with Brad's relentless energy behind the decks, these two really helped keep the dance floor going after the pounding brought forth by the Tomatoes. Sunra and the Professor truly have such a unique act together, I cannot believe we had never had the chance to witness it before! I have a feeling we will see more of these two, as they truly have a unique style of music going together. Great set guys! As for Kevin and I, it was an unbelievable feeling to get to play with such an awesome guy. Kevin did a great job of transitioning out of the power / twilight that we were left with by Professor and Sunra, into some high-energy full on Psytrance. Kevin's great track selection and precise mixing really helped this transition to be as smooth as possible, which really got me pumped to throw down with him. It was awesome to try to stomp the whole time with Kevin, and seeing him stomping harder than ever before during a set really helped me to stay energized throughout our whole set. I hope to have the honor of playing with you again buddy, because this was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had playing at a party! Way to rock KO, way to rock. Chris and Derek also did an EXCELLENT job tagging! Chris did an excellent job of picking gentle yet edgy morning tracks, while Derek did an excellent job of complementing Chris's tracks with his own style of high-energy full on. The deep bass lines of both of your guys' chosen tracks really fit together well, and it was unbelievable to hear how good your mixes were, especially when coming off of each others' tracks! Great job Chris of playing some beautiful yet groovy morning stuff, and huge props to Derek for finding tracks that were powerful enough, yet still beautiful enough, to work with Chris's tracks. A great set from you both, it was awesome to hear you two play together for the first time! Last but not least, KaiserSoze and Machi's set was amazing. It was even more amazing that they let Airyck throw in a few tracks, which really made the experience even more memorable! Pumpin' basslines and stimulating melodies really made for a morning progressive Psytrance experience that made me feel unfatigued and ready for more! It was such a treat to hear the progressive style which Machi has mastered also played by Airyck and Scott. Great energy, great mixes, great music from all three of you to keep the event strong until the end. All of the music at this event absolutely incredible! Thanks to all performers for preparing such awesome sets!

WrapUp: How do things just keep getting better and better!? More and more art is being made, from more and more talented Midwest artists! These guys keep helping these events to grow more colorful, more beautiful, and definitely more psychedelic! Scott now owns more spandex than ever, which is such a great contribution to the deco at Midwest Psy gatherings! Also, more and more awesome music is played at these events! Despite the many Psytrance events that have occurred in the Midwest, there is still plenty of musical talent around, and thanks to Kevin's clever booking efforts, we were able to experience yet another performer that most of us have never heard! With folks like Kevin helping to organizing events now, I have no doubts that we will continue to see a diverse array of new and awesome Psytrance at future Midwest events. More and more new faces keep showing up too! It seems like more and more people are giving Psytrance events a chance, or at least a second look, and its just so awesome to see new folks taking away positive experiences from these events, as that is the goal. I am sure we can all once recall what it was like to have our first truly unforgettable trance-dance experience, and successfully reproducing this experience for others is absolutely priceless. I hope we can all continue to pull more and more new people into this tribe, as EVERYONE deserves to come check out a Psytrance party at some point in their life.
Lastly, a final huge thanks to Kevin O'Donnell. Kevin's efforts with the scene have already surpassed that of so many, yet he has only been involved in this for a very short time! It just goes to show how you can do pretty much anything you want if you put your whole mind and heart into it. Kevin's longing to make this event one to remember was truly felt in every moment of my experience at Exopsytosis, and this selfless intent of his greatly enhanced this event for me. With the community in the hands of folks like Kevin, I have no doubts that our tribe will continue to flourish, bringing more and more new people together to enjoy great music and share in great times! I have a feeling that this young lad has just begun to give back to this community, and it makes me so excited to know such a great guy who is truly devoted towards providing others with positive, meaningful Psytrance events. Way to go Kevin, and way to go Everyone. You make the Midwest the incredible place that it is, and I really look forward to living here and spending my life with any and all of you who similarly plan to continue living in the Midwest.
Oh, and FUCK YEAH to Ritesh for flying out here to stomp with us! So amazing to see you again my brotha!
I took some amazing pictures since I finally brought a tripod, so I will upload them and post a link here soon!
BOOM!

Kevin you are a pro in my eyez now for pulling out one of the best indoor parties I have ever gone too. Being very relaxed the whole time, he perfectly handled every aspect of it. The only suggestion is: I think you still need to put more effort promoting it: flyers, e-mails. More people should be enjoying party like that one.
Not being a big fun of tag sets myself I have to admit that all the teams were paired up perfectly and all the dj's showed exceptional skill level and all the sets flown after each other perfectly the whole night long.
Geal vs Toki started the party with a bunch of crunchy sounds and funky grooves which made me bounce and jump all over the place. Can't imagine a better way for starting the party. By the time they were finished the dancefloor was energized and ready for Nick's. Aktif vs Agent Hurt significantly increased the level of psychedelia by laying more and more intense tracks showing really impressing mixing skills and pushing number of layers to maximum, which got all of us more then ready for.......Unwashed Tomatoes. WoW, what a great music. Those guys are real deal keeping extremely busy on the other side of the barricade they brought one of the best musical adventures I have ever experienced. Well, it must have been good as I saw even Kaiser jumping around during their live set . I also totally understood why the name: in the certain moment you start seeing a lot of bouncing, red tomatoes coming at you, so many that you can't keep up washing them and you just toss'em around...
I needed a brake in about half way of their dj set to come back for the 3 way family tag: expecting Sunra vs Professor. Great follow up and very emotional set by the end of which I started seeing the light - that was The Professor waving in that one track I keep hearing from him with mystic female vocal sample...my heart was pounding.
I was totally blown by Abrahm vs Ascension mixing skills when hearing a bunch of my favorite tracks arranged in very psychedelic pattern while bringing more and more light to the dancefloor. I am so glad to share decks and experience with you guys.
You could almost see two opposite forces balancing each other during Collision vs Energon set. Flawless mixing and great track selection kept the dancefloor still going and jumping after several hours of continuous stomping.
Huge thanks and respect to Scott for awesome experience playing set together with me. Not too many people realize at some moments this guy was laying songs on top of each other for 3-4 minutes perfectly blending them together. I think we did very good job slowly relaxing and finishing the party.
GUT TIMES! I was glad to see you all. I needed it so bad. Big thanks to Kevin and all the people involved in making it happen. Thanks to the joint efforts the dancefloor has never been so beautifully decorated before. Derek, Carli, Scott, Cliff, Leo and anyone else who contributed - thanks for devoting you energy and money to make our gatherings better and better.
I will see you all soon....
p.s. also huge thanks to Airyck for enlighting our performence with his presence and skills dropping a few beautifull morning tracks.

Our thanks go out to Kevin, and all ya'll that made this event happen! We had an absolute blast, and we're thrilled that so many people enjoyed our music! We are blown away by the reaction from you guys. It means a lot to us.
The dj's were slamming, the deco was off the chains, and the energy coming off of everyone there was really impressive! You guys definitely know how to get down, and we can't wait to come slay it with you again.
Heheh, we were pleasantly surprised that just by chance, we ended at the same bpm that Sunra and the Prof started at: 165!!
You guys are awesome.
Again, thank you guys so much for bringing us out to party with you! It was a really great experience to get to be part of such a killer event.
Anytime you want us, we're yours!
Andy and Dave
P.S.: Since the recording from the party was unfortunately destroyed, we put together a two hour approximation of our set for your listening pleasure (without the "live" elements). It is just the tracks we played mixed in the style we rocked at the party.
The mix is in two parts available at http://unwashedrecords.com/Unwashed2/Downloads.html
or, for direct download:
