Hey all
I've just started learning about psytrance production today (have been reading TONS from these forums - you guys rock). Got myself Cubase SX 3.
I'm having a problem with Cubase's LM-7 drum machine. In fact, I had the exact same problem with the VB-1 but I got fed up, so I'm not using it here. Please excuse my "track" - just messing around for knowledge sake. I don't have monitors and this is pretty much my first day
My sequencing goes like this (with the HH on every 16th - I think?):
hhhhhhhh
k-k-k-k-
--s---s-
But the HH doesn't play like that. It plays all jaggered and screwed. The VB-1 does the same thing.
Listen to it here:

I'm running a Core2 Duo 1.67 (64-bit) with 1gig of ram so that can't be the problem.
Also... Vanguard works fine - no problems (and surely that is more resource hungry).
Thanks! <3 |

Thanks for the replies!
Etcetera: Surely my other VSTs would give problems too? Vanguard works perfectly. |

Make sure quantise is on and set to something useful (32nds, use quantise mode - not bar or beat), I think a new install of cubase has it set to some weird setting.
Make sure the hats aren't overlapping on the track. Drag the ends of them to shorten - then press 'Z' on the audio track to expand it, drag the blue box on each sample to fade the end a bit to prevent non zero crossings - ie Clicks.
The VB1 sounds like it is playing correctly, but you need to spend time matching it to your kick drum and mix it down in volume until they start to gel and sound like a continuous sound. Also make sure the midi notes aren't overlapping as it is a monophonic synth.
