Classical Indian Dancing: Apirami Arthieswaran, the disciple of Dr Chandrabhanu has been a member of Anandavalli’s Lingalayam Dance Company since its conception in 1996 and has performed in many dance recitals in Australia as well as solo recitals in Vienna and London. At Damara Apirami and her student Youjia Song will be giving a simple taste of Bharatanatyam fused with Indian folk. (Bharatanatyam is a classical dance form originating from Tamil Nadu in the south of India. This dance form is derived from Cathir, the art of temple dancers.)

Taiko Drumming is a form of Japanese drumming practiced in village festivals that produces striking percussive sounds with the use of bodily forms and movement. Steve Moore and his group will be giving a ten minute recital. Two members keeping rhythm while two others lead with percussive variations and form movement.

Our chance to contribute!
Ixchel will present regular events (intending every three months), each time contributing funds and generating awareness for various grassroots social and healing projects and charities. Ixchel promotes Australian female DJs, VJs, Producers, Décor artists, Performers Provider’s and Healers, giving them an opportunity to present their talents to the wider community, you 

For this event, in the spirit of Damara, Ixchel will contribute funds to benefit two projects. a small orphange in Morocco La Maison de l'etoile and the Shakti Project, a non-government, community motivated school in Pushka, India.
Both of these organisations constantly require clothing for the children. A box will be provided at the door at Damara for any donations of *hand me down* kids clothing, Ixchel will pass these goodies onto both.

La Moison de L'etoile Orphanage
La Maison de l'etoile is located at 15 km of Essaouira, in Morocco. It is a small orphanage which takes care of abandoned and handicapped children. It is a small orphanage which is limited to helping only some children at a time.

With your support, Ixchel can contribute to La Maison de l'etoile provide shelter, personal and individual care, clothing, food and schooling to the orphaned children of Rhazoua.

Shakti school - Pushka
The Shakti school is a small non-government organisation (NGO). The kids come from families who have nothing - in India that means absolutely nothing. They live on the street perhaps under a tarpaulin, food comes from what they can beg. The idea of the Shakti project is empowerment.

All kids in India can have a free education if they have a school uniform - obviously that is out of the range of their parents price range. The Shakti School provides a place for the kids to come and get washed and change into a uniform.

The idea that it is better to work rather than beg in constantly reinforced and children are taught crafts and small business ideas (Many of their parents came from the itinerant & illiterate caste of entertainers but with changing times, TV, less nomadic lifestyles etc they are losing their place in India society)

Looking forward & hope to see you in something EXOTIC!!

For sure Mesq, we are so looking forward to having some ghettafunkt-itude down here

Makes the musical layout for the psyroom really nice to work with... doing things just a little bit different. This is gunna wok n wonka just some.

More good news for the middle of winter! Damara will have numerous outdoor heaters so we will maintain a degree of warmth. With the warm chai, soup & couscous, some extra warmth on the inside

As far as rain pours, we are hoping it won't; however we have arranged for complete shelter over the outside area as plan two. Short of toasted marshmallows, we will not be settling for anything less than a well enjoyed hospitable night for all. All fired up with 4 weeks to go!

...a quick reminder if you or any friends and relatives may have hand me down clothing to contribute, gather them up before Damara and bring along. We will have a box at the door for putting kids clothing in which will be sent to both projects in Pushka and Rhazoua.

Damara was sucessfulin ways we did not expect. Ixchel, thanks to all the support, raised
$ 3 784.00 to be split between both the Shakti Project school in Pushka, India and
La Moison de L'etoile Orphanage in Morocco!! Congratulations to ALL OF YOU!!
Never couild we do this alone *much love*

We are amazed to have such an overwhelming number of people come to our event, with
so many more unable to get in and party for a time; wowzers! With the sprinkles of rain,
winter chill and all, we had indeed prepared ourselves for lower numbers, what happened
went beyond anything expected. People held at the door by 2am, no more room
for more!! (double u. t. f. ) The crew, those of you who come along and help us setup,
ost definitely deserve many hugs and congratulations for Damara success. So all you
ovely people you all know just who you are !!ThAnKyOu!!! ..from the depths of our Ixchel
bosom.

A few special words of appreciation must be said too. Some of you guys went well
above, way beyond what yourselves and we know you needed. Required however as it was.

Big thanks to Greg (inside décor), Gavin, Shayne, Brains, Alex, all of REGEN, Livi, Jen,
Safron, Carla, Christina, Kate, Sahnna and Bindi. All have been important ingredients in
the final event.

The food was a beautiful sight as much as eating.
Nice touch, thankyou Cherry and Georgia.

Sasha, you worked your bees hind madly all night long! Thanks so much, some crazy
times for you i know. Well done, sounded really nice... got better and better all night.

Djs!! You chic'ees rock! i know on both stages there were a few hitches, thankfully ironed
out. Many thanks for the patience shown girls... know who you are *big hugs* I hope you
all enjoyed being a part of this, all of our night benefited from it. That's for sure! To our
resident Vj... nice touch there chic'in, love your work.

The Performers!! How amazing, the colour and motion, the sounds... just beautiful.
hankyou girls n boys, you added some magic to Damara indeed xx

Again thanks to all of you folks for being there!! Keep it coming I say.
In fact, in all excitement; ( which we've held back for long enough ) It would be
awesome if we get a similar response... with as many as possible of your many loved
faces to join us when new head to New Caledonia next year.
( contributing to a local New Cal cause)

Next Ixchel gig... 24th November @ The Abercrombie *nods*
