I am happy at least 1 user found my point in all this.
It's not about "looking for good music" cause i still dig deep to find stuff i like so that's not the problem. |

Right, we've moved from the information scarcity of the mid-nineties (when there weren't even web sites let alone P2P or streaming online shops) to this time of great information abundance... suddenly there is too much, and sorting through all of it is a monumental task. Well, DJs, reviewers, and other taste-makers were very useful in the mid-nineties, and the same could be said now. Finding quality music doesn't need to be a singular task; the proper response to the mass of music out there is collective sorting. There are communities (i.e. last.fm) but the best way of doing it is simply conversing with your colleagues in the field to sort the wheat from the chaff. It is true--the democratization of the tools of production (and DJing) have lead to this massive influx of substandard music and DJ sets, so go pro and pay attention to people who have taste that you respect... problem solved!
The time you speak of--around Y2K in particular--brought about instant classics like Reload and Shores Of Freedom precisely because information had become less scarce yet production volume had not yet exploded upward... in other words, it was the perfect time for an outstanding track to make the rounds and "go viral" as we would now say. Before that time there wasn't the communications medium for it, and after it there was simply way too much music for individual tracks to break the envelope. That is the new situation... at least now most artists don't have 600 different aliases they release under; if you like Extrawelt or Derango you can generally rely on their output. If your favourite producers falter and don't release as much... find a few more to keep track of. It isn't so difficult.

We used to have mp3.com where everyone put their crap music which nobody cared about. Now everyone can make a tune and start a label...."release it" and send it to some mp3 webstore, who in turn thinks "the more the merrier".
Since i listen to normal trance too I have to say that the situation in psychedelic trance still isnt that bad. Sure....most stuff released are crap but the mountain of crap isnt that big yet....
In psytrance I maybe have to listen to about 100 tunes to find 1 decent one.
In normal trance I maybe have to listen to 500. |

When did psy become about making it big?
If you're good, your tracks and mixes will be heard. How many people have hear Rawar? Now how many people have heard Kindzadza?
(No disrespect to Rawar, just making a point.)
  You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me? |

I find it so sad that, because there are so many releases with so many different artists that nobody know's what to listen to anymore. I just checked out the "DJ mix" section and, in 90% of the DJ sets there are SO MANY no-name artists (and i use the term no-name because i've never heard of them) ..
because of all this, no new artists make it big or get any attention anymore.
why is this important ? because now, people have a harder time to discover psytrance.

people who wanna discover psy trance should start from the beginning and not from the end.
start with the first names. chaishop music news have a great music pods that can help you discover the best names in the different styles. start with the first names. 1995. you can hear later how many of the artists after that only copied the ideas. start to discover with the beginning. just a small advise

well for once i agree with you
pople should learn a little bit from the beginings of trance music and its culture
maybe this way we should see more educated people and more people respecting this culture

when there's some FUCK in CAPS happening so so i'd say:
FUCK the styles, just listen to new stuff, if you like it, buy it, if you don't just ignore; and please don't stop exploring, i see no harm in that

i definitely dont want to listen to new stuff anymore. why this new stuff obsession? the classics are in the past. i found an old hard disc of mine, where i had some mp3 from 1995-1998, i even felt bad because i never bought them. this will be the first thing to do with the first income that i have next week. i love the old stuff. this obsession always to be on top of the new wave....doesnt really make sense. the elder had the vision. the new ones dont.
