I find it so sad that, because there are so many releases with so many different artists that nobody know's what to listen to anymore. I just checked out the "DJ mix" section and, in 90% of the DJ sets there are SO MANY no-name artists (and i use the term no-name because i've never heard of them) ..
because of all this, no new artists make it big or get any attention anymore.
why is this important ? because now, people have a harder time to discover psytrance.

sorry but i dont get the point here.
You said in 90% of the DJ sets there are no-name artists, so this should infact help the new artists to get known by letting their names & their music out for the listeners on internet easily.
So why do you feel sad about this situation? Am i missing a point?

there is so many music
and a lot of music is crap
but there is also a lot of music worth listening
(in the sea of crap)
but people cant find out music
because the scene is flooded with crap
and good music is not promotiong enough
cause crappy music gets better promotion
and so on..

Crap or Killer...it's all subjective...
What's really sad is that i'll go my whole life without hearing it all...crap or otherwise. Alas, there are worse things that the world could be flooded with other than music...

It is easy to say it is so sad but i think that with all the music coming out there is very few that is really music, all other is sound.
Just follow the people that make the music that inspire you, that make you dance and fly in that beautiful dancefloor. Support the artists who make good music and leave the other music to go on it's own path.
Everything will come to it's place one day...Keep looking for the music never give up it's there and will always be there, don't be sad just keep going! I know i feel the same lost in a sea of crap but i know that there is good tracks here and there! What is life without good music?

Keep listening & listening to newer music/sounds, don't stick yourself to one style or genre or subgenre or whatever you may call it, keep experimenting with your taste & grab the ones that appeal to your ears & soul.

well, that's my point exactly.. the artists i like to stick with aren't producing or releasing as much as they used to.. so that small 10% of artists i am looking for on CD's or releases just aren't there anymore so we get 90% more of nothing insted.
it doesn't make that much sence and i don't mean to complain, i am just sad my favorite artists don't produce anymore and the fact that it would take me a life-time before finding that 1 new good artist in the pile of waste there is out there is getting to me.. hehe.
what happend to Dino, Dado, joti, silicon sound, yumade.. they all disapeard.

most of them just grow up and understand that you cant suport a family whit "PSY-MUSIC" and turn to "pop"/"dance"/"house" music to be able to make money.

Just checked the DJsets section and the first 10 mixes... night,morning,twilight,fullon,chill. All artists names were known to me so guess your point of view is subjective. Either that or I've been listening to too much music
(naaah!!)
jester, the golden years you're reminiscing will probably come back full circle in the couple of years. looks like 2008 is 1998s goatrance revival... so ... wait till 2011 for the next step?
don't think you should be looking for the those old projects ... infact if you're really on the search, you'd want to listen to all those nonames to find & release what you feel is good music. thats the essence of a label no ?

well, I could share my thought on regards of this issue, as if there is something I started enjoying the last couple of years is precisely the fact that every monday/tuesday, that spend listening to new music I get my balls kicked by a new "no name" artist as you call'em.
and more and more tired of the "brand" name artists......
but that among being utterly subjective is just a personal thought.
on every single genre of music that owns a fan base of true followers you'll find people complaining about the same thing, dont believe me, just walk around and see.
shit is everywhere, so what to do with it??
think is very surprising every once in a while to also find that some "brand" name artists are "evolving" , and that actually is quite hype to do, because, even when it also becomes a subjective issue to discuss because we judge by personal opinion/taste.
now about selling out to pop/house/ect etc.
I dont see it that way, I rather see it as a personal evolution to express new ideas...
most of times far more psychedelic than what we call "psy trance"
there is plenty of names to call, BLT = Perfect Stranger --- Silicon Sound + Jaia = Even 11 ---- Dado is enjoying the work at the Sony's PS Headquarters and not selling out to pop, so is all good....
thinking that a no name artist could come and release, a track, an EP or even an album is not a matter of what you'd like to stick to, it has to do more with the opening of boundaries mentally established of who can make it out on the career of opportunities...

We as a society will most likely reach a point where our music is so electronically complex that it will resemble white noise.

I think we are about to step up to a super exciting point in Electronica. The technology is there to make extraordinary timbers, very cutting edge sounding stuff. Super explosive tunes again!!
Why is it not happening so fast?
Designing sound on a computer is a highly intellectual behavior. Slowly I think, we will see a brand new form of cutting edge psy. It will take time for people to learn more about the synth instead of how to use a flanger.
Its also hard to market now. That is so true. You wont find much marketing of untested material.
Also! The psy scene has changed a lot.
Is melody and harmony gone from music? Nope, its just changed. Sound/timber/tone/harmony...
These things are far more the same than they are different. We are just not used to them, and perhaps, have not seen many " sound artists " become quite adept at creating an emotional state with their sounds. Melodies, harmonies, can be very emotional things. I think timber can as well. But I also think, we might need to evolve a little more before we can hear it that way.
Sound is not very communicatory to everybody.
However, we didn't all grow up in a world where our idea of music was sound. Thats a brand new thing.
Well... Depend on what you call new. To me, anything that has not been around for 100 years, is pretty new.
This because, the Universe is here for how many years?
And a normal life span is how many years?
We are all such young, new people! Yes?
