An Experience In Trance

Here’s some food for thought, some may find it wonderful others may shun never the less, please have an open mind.

For those of us who are deeply touched by this music. Those of us who felt that a certain plateu could never be reached without the mind opening experience the music gave us. Spiritual ? Yes. Therapeutic ? Yes. Moving ? Yes. The list goes on and on. Its just music right? No. Theres something different about it. It speaks to everyone differently, yet in the same way. Its loved by many, but still not know by many.. It breathes unity. It thinks positive. Why not make this art form available on a much larger scale. Move past the parties, the clubs, the events and festivals. Trance deserves a better name for itself other than a tryptomine fiends best friend. How exactly would you do this? This is how I would do it. In my own humble opinion I now present to you something I have dreamed about since I was 15 years old.

Everyone dreams, it’s a fact. Anyone into psychedelic music should know about Pink Floyd : The Wall and the production that went on for that live tour. It gave back to the people who were moved by there music. It opened new doors for being truly the most unsane out there. Lets re-invent the circle. Lets make something in our trail that says “Those Fucking Hippies Did It Again”. After all Pink Floyd early followers when they were more psychedelic rock were well, very spaced out individuals. What Im getting at folks, is a full on show. Something that not just the general fans would come to see, but something people would pay money to sit and watch the show in a theater or auditorium. Something that leaves an artistic mark on history for a generation in need of some good aural and visual entertainment. The cost would be deep. The planning would be tedious. But the result of hudreeds coming together as one main thinking machine, to develop a temporary peak at what people see in they’re dreams and just choose not to remember, would be a wonderfull thing indeed.

dude thats a good idea. just remember that rome wasnt built in a day and pink floyds the wall was the product of years of getting well known.
on the way to a wall like event , you have to have smaller events that will grow slowly. no one will invest in such an event without being sure it will produce $$$$ and you ned to fidn a stronger base than whats available today.
but as i have said before and will say again, if you want it do it. this is a great goal and somethign that can keep you busy for a long time and if you want it enough you just might suceed (IMO) so go for it dude.

imo thre's no problem to come this dream true , in unnomerous ways , all depands on one's fantasy and creativity ... can be started from like 2-3 hrs show , trance theather , dancers , fireshows and some tribal trance telling it's story ... and to run such a show on festivals , for example in akko or karmiel'(those are in israel) ... its just an option(and not so new and unique) it's in a very small perspective ...
but to do smth global as the Wall , smth that can reach and scratch one's brain with no connection to his/her nationality , gender .... well , it's questionable ... society changed ... imo to enjoy trance u need to want to enjoy it , and imo it's kinda gift that is not given to everyone .
nice dream u have           Dance is my Trance

To the guy who said the western world doesnt have much spirtuality...

Your not hitting the nail on the head with it. As much as the rest of the world thinks that westernized humans have no spirituality, no concern for the enviroment, no care for the rest of the world, I can say your in for a surprise. There is a huge awakening going on here with spirituality. Pagan religions in particular. Moving onwards.

This show I have dreamed about wouldnt be limited to trance. It would be an ultimate show of light and sound. Dancing and performing. Poetry and rhyme. The initial feeling would have to be captured with sounds like 12,000 Suns, Crescent Suns, ya get the feel? That way it would reach everyone. Alot of people in America listen to electric music. Im not sure if it is the same in other places but if it was done right, it would be a great success. The next hurdle is making the millions to put this on... by then techno will be on the oldies radio. But who knows right?

You mean that trance should be more commercial? This is the only way for music to be closer to people. As for me, i 'm not against rotating clips on MTV or releasing Xenomorph on Maverick Records. But do you really feel sure that after making big money on trance -related music artists would still make a music of REALLY GOOD QUALITY?
I don't. Not because of that artist are bad Just every week there will be new group and new albums. Will they be good?
Look at present Futur Trance compilations. This is real bullshit now. I'm afraid that can happen to psy trance also.

Im not sure, but maybe you misunderstood. I dont want to turn trance into a marketing scheme. I myself am an artist. I know and feel what artistic expression is. This is one way I would like to express myself. All the thought really was for is outside input and that I recieved. The production would cost more money than it owuld bring in at first, and I wouldnt do it to mainstream 604. Just to make it available to all. Why does it have to be a bad thing anyways that something goes mainstream. Sure it sucks at first but it also depends on how you look at it. Its music. If the world loves it let it be mainstream. At least we could all agree on something at that point. And also, about the tryptomine thing... you cant go your whole life on drugs man.

Well, I just think that if trance artists would start adding priorities like "how do I make this more accessible", or "how do I make this smoother for the average listener", the trance scene would lose all of the unique things it has today. The whole point is that the trance scene evolved around the trance music, and the outside influences are kept to very low levels. The trance we hear today is very hard-core psychedelic trance. You want something more accessible? Hear deep trance. You want to make music everyone will like? Stay the hell away from the "electronic music" label.

You want 100% pure psychedelic trance - you can't compromise. And I'm very happy that people don't. We have something special - something that's made for US. The trance scene. People should join us because it's GOOD MUSIC. Not because we changed the music for them.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

I agree with KAZ... trance is so good because its something made for US, people who are reallly involved with the trance way of life, its beliefs... and muchof that would be lost if it became something to atract all kinds of people...           "Going to the grave without ever having a psychedelic experience is like going to the grave without ever having sex" (T. i think there's a question everyone asks themselves here - do i want to make this a universal thing, and thus negating all the unique aspects that a Small community gave it? sure, it sounds patronizing, but i figure that's what a lot of people must be thinking - why should we make trance a global effect?

i think i have An answer to that - Trance IS a global effect. remember, when rock started out, it had the fanatic fans of U.S.A. and UK, and other countries were oblivious to it. gradually, it became a world wide fenomena which continues to aspire and inspire people all over the world. trance, as i see it, is still in it's "Underground" stage, as was rock in the 30's, 40's and 50's. it's only a matter of time untill trance will become as global as other musical styles. the gates are open and the crowds are coming when it comes to trance's siblings: House, Techno, club, dance, 2-step, garage and the likes.

or in the words of the late great Frank Sinatra: Change is Inevidable. except from a Vending Machine.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

Lior, I'm sure that there are many genres which are in the underground stage in different countries. Trance is not any different - maybe it's a bit large relatively to other underground genres, but no on says that in 20 years from now it's going to be mainstream.
I doubt it, because Trance is something which is hard for the listener, especially today's Trance in which there are almost no melodies. A person comes from a background of listening to melodies into this dark world. I don't think he will stay with it. That's why Trance remains unknown and shall remain unknown in the future.
