After I fixed my hardware problem (had to buy a new graphics card) I get the software problems! ):( Istead of just lock-ups I get asio errors, vst problems, shit like that :-)
5-6 more joyful hours of fixing the comp!

i'm not tryin to show off, but i've never bought any hardware that hadn't worked from the 1st time
(just once, i forgot to connect a CPU, so the pc booted with beep :-)
maybe you do something wrong ?
e.g. before you add a harddisk,
you need:

1) check who it will be - master/single/slave
on its IDE cable (or something else for SCSI)
2) jumper the harddisk for that purpose, according to the pics opn the harddisk or the manual.
3) connect/mount it and connect the electricity power
4) turn on the PC, goto BIOS, play with it
(LBA addressing if needed etc.)
try autodetect it.
5) partition the harddisk if needed
6) format the harddisk.
8) close the cover of the PC.
hope u did this right.

Mike:
after u replace graphic adapter, u better try reinstalling Cubase, cause it uses graphic cards settings. (it's a registry entry, but i don't know which)
about ASIO ... which exactly problems, anyway, reinstall ASIO drivers.
and try scandisk + defrag  on the harddisk.

I made a format after the new card. Now the problem seems to be in the MIDI interface. I tried changing the USB slot it's connected to. Let's see if that helps.
