Hey folks!

I am building a new studio and i hv a question about accoustics windows! I really need the maximun isolation i can get, because my mother and neighboors hate psytrance (the big problem is with my mother). My studio is beside to my mother`s room, so i really need some professional solution. Here comes the point:
In my studio i hv those two big windows (which i will not close because it hs a bealtifull view, which will inspire me hehehe). I hv been collecting infos about those acoustic windows and all i can find is some types that i dont feel "safe" about it`s level isolation. I need some windows like those used in police departaments, where the bad guy can scream the hell out of his mouth and the cops outside of the room dont listen anything.
Do you guys know if what i am looking for exists?
In my searches i found one that has 4 layers of glass (10mm).. does it make any difference? what shoud i consider when buying those windows? i mean, what does really matter?

I am also making some other stuff in my studio, like double brick walls with fiberrock inside (which is better then fiberglass because it has tree times more density).. I also hv a great isolation door..

I want to find the best windows i can get and see the results of isolation with this setting i am telling u. After isolating i will treat the sound.. Maybe after the windows i will need some more stuff inside to isolate, but first i want to see the results with the "raw" room -> just windows and door. Do u think later on maybe i will need something extra, like plasterboards or vinil.. ? if i need , then it will be necessary to complete the walls isolation, but what about the windows? if the windows i buy dont isolate a lot then i hv a BIG problem right? (because what could i use then on those windows to improove the isolation?)..

I hope i could be clear... Help me guys! Give me a light!!!

well if the windows are even somewhat decent and you mother keeps her windows closed then the sound that travels outside and back into her window shouldn't be much of a problem. From what it sounds like you don't have a big building right outside your window reflecting the sound back.

I think the main thing is going to be the door and the walls, floor, and ceiling. If you put bass traps on the wall by your moms room on top of some other kind of sound absorber like you were saying that should help. You can also get some "mopads" for your monitor speakers and that will get rid of the direct vibration through the cabinents.

Also I've built 1 meter by .50 meter bass traps for about 15 bux each.

There is a tutorial somewhere online about it, i'll see if I can find it, it's very easy just requires, a certain type of wood (at any lumber yard/hardware store), some canvas fabric from a fabric store, some rockwool insulation and a staple gun. You can have the people cut the boards for you at the hardware store.

I'm afraid trapping and absorbing sound doesn't help preventing the sound to travel through the walls.

Good isolation is not cheap.

You want to isolate your room from the outside? why? Anyway you can do it with a rather simple double window solution. The problem is that it's a window, and it's supposed to open/close - this is not simple anymore.

To isolate your room as much from the building, you will need to build a room inside the room - creating double/tripple wall, with isolating minerals in between and air. The door will have to be a huge massive door, that is not so easy to construct either.
