Psy-trance kulture to me is the entertainment/
propoganda unit of a vaster underground movement
that has been around since the dawn of time, since
one monkey thought he had the right to yoke/enslave
another, and used violence to obtain his ends.
What "our kulture" (sic), that is to say the
psy-trance scene appreciates more than most other
music genre is the philosophy behind art. It also
appreciates more (but not by any means universally)
that trance is a state of mind, not a style of music,
a birthright of a state of neurological freedom, where
we can escape the conditions of physical
circumstance.
The tribal totems and symbols that were adopted
in the 90's were a result of the literature and
discussions that were taking place amongst the
underground intelligensia. However as the psy-trance
scene is slowly turning into a parody of itself, this
intelligensia has stopped supplying us with new
ideas, concepts and formulations, upon which we
could build on. In essence we have stagnated, in
the same way as the "hippies" of the 60's, did in
the repressive 70's, indeed, huge parallels could be
drawn between the underground movements and their evolutions between the 60+70's, and the 90's+00's.
On a personal note, I do live the scene every moment
of my life, from performing at parties, owning a
psy-trance DVD label, working full-time professionally
producing "psychedelic" animations. Though it
can be all things to all people, the glittering many-
sided reflective jewel of Tibetan mythology springs
to mind. It just depends on which facet you are
looking at, all are valid. Which is a nice feature of
the "scene" that we try not to force each other to
solely perceives things from our own perspective.

i agree, its a scene with much diversity and openmindness (there r exceptions of course )

anyway,for me itts not just music...I cant listen to music (at least not regularly)if it doesnt have a feeling of love for the music and a kind of non-conformist attitude: does not obey "their" values and ideas and realities ,cause to be honest with u i see the world being fucked up and we need to be able to express ourselves one way or the other.in this case through music,and sorry but my mind just CANNOT accept that someone who is trendy,materialist to the bone ,not giving a damn about how we are being forced to form our minds in a certain way and see the world decaying in apathy, ijust cannot accept that a person like that can be a psytrancer just because he likes the music..heres an example: its like listening to antichrist/satanic metal and going to church every sunday..
of course just my views on the matter

Don't get me wrong, I love the music and I listen to it everyday(sometimes a little too much), but I'm not obessed with the culture behind it. I don't wear trancey clothes, take psychedelic substances, or enjoy hindu culutre and meditation. I think it's interesting though. You all know the saying "Look but don't touch". Well that pretty much sums me up. Hey, I like science ficition movies though.
Parties are nice though. It's a good place for dancing, mingling with other psyheads, and having great discussions.
No one gave me a psytrance track to listen to when I first started listening to this music. I got myself into it after searching for new music. I'm a person who searches for new experiences that are stimulating to my mind. That is my way of life. Psytrance music is only a part of it. |

how do u meen "way of life" ?
if im going to parties 5 years almost evry weekend and also in most of my free time i make this kind of music , is this my way of life? may be yes but i dont feel like that. for me its music. if music is life dont forget life is temporary thing while music last forever

it's music first of all
an along music, come other aspects like
fluo decorations
jugglings
clubwears (act. i like the many secret pocket trousers hehe)
and more..
for me iz a way of life..
i cud never under stand how my parents cud live without all these..
without colours in their life..
without feeling they fly in space sometimes. and have a good break out of this earth world thing..
of corse music is our way of life
imagine, there are still ppl.. who dont listen to music every day!!,like we do, so..
i think iz a way of life >

Ofcoarse the music itself is a way of life... sometimes my head shakes out of nowhere to that azax track playing somewhere in My head, look carefully and and You'd hear the music too
I dont really follow this culture, but I do sometimes wish I could live like a hippy, keep popping acid all day, smoking joints and falling in love with every person I meet! but sadly, that aint gonna get me an earning and someone has to pay the god damn rent!

First question: I think it used to be a way of life for some people in goa in the mid-nineties and some people still try to replicate that( some don't)
Second question: I think people who are into metal and goths are similar tribes. They consider it a way of life and listen to their tunes fanaticaly until they know every last bit of them.
Third question: I got bored of it after 97 but i got back into it last year to find out it's totaly changed. Personaly I don't think it will become very popular again. It might evolve to a new genre though.

we all have different opinions....the thing is we all have a blasting time at those parties right? of course im always listening to psy and stuff like that, but as some may say there are other things man, like for example....chicks...i know there are chicks at these parties, but u know what im sayin ok....
sure psychedelic is an important part of my life, but not like my way of life, but if u think of it like that, man great for you.
i am going to live once, so i am going to enjoy....do the same mo fo´s!

It's because it is music with spiritual and moral values. It's a nation a culture which even though so many people call themselves to be part of it, in reality very few understand it's core, it's power and energy! It is music at the end of the day...only music hehehehehe
