Is this possible?

Ciao,

Using a windows XP system - running Sound Forge 7.

I want to 'steal' voices from songs and place them in my mixes. How is this possible? Is there a program that seperates a song into all of its components?

For example, I want to take a copy of a RHCP song and remix it to a psy beat. I want to get the guitar and a voice part. How would I go about this? Is it possible with what I have or do I need new things?

Ciao,

Ask the creator of the song.. He is the only one who could give you, what you want...

You can be very creative and start using EQ and Filtering to recover the voice that you need - without the background interference.

Also im not sure, but you can try taking a loop of the song where there is no voice, and put it on exactly same loop that with the voice - but substract one from another - you might end up with the voice only.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Use the techniques trip described. Look here for more informations about acapellas/ acap techniques:
http://www.acapellas4u.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=31

You can even download 10 acapellas per month there! But extracting a voice from a mix is very difiicult.

For several songs there exist remix-packs with seperate voices/ audio-files. "Celemony Melodyne" may also be interesting for you.

Good luck,

Normally people doing remixes have got a remix package with all sounds and voice from the original, but is the owner of the song that can decide to give you that pack if he likes how u remix or not, or just if he wants a remix or not...

ICA (independent component analysis) could help you to some stage, even if the spectra of the tracks (vocals, drums etc) are intermingled in fourier (frequency) space

the truth is, that if you want a sample in good quality, you have to find a part in the song, where the sample plays alone.
but in fact my advice is (in case that we dont talk about a kick sample or something in this way) that you always ask the artist (or the owner of the copyright), if you want to cover a melody, hookline, vocal, ...
otherwise you could get troubles, if you release the track.

Yes it is impossible. Of course you can do your best and *try* to get the single components, but this will (it has to) be only a worse or better approximation...

You can't slauther a cow, mix it into a sausage and make a cow out of it again..

And as a second thought: I wouldn't recommend anyone to do this for a remix.. Ask the owner of the song or let it be..

>> not the ultra crystal cleaning but very near
There you have it Of course this can be useful for any military-physical-scientific-related stuff.. (I don't know...) but it's not the tool to make a remix. I really don't think so hehehe

ok ok there is one thing u can try.... ""Want to know a great trick for pulling out a cappella or other sample elements of a CD's track so you can mix it into different music? Just use S1 MS Matrix on the stereo track of the song to phase-invert the audio. You can have access to little portions of the vocals or other things that you could never separate from the full stereo track. Of course, the end result is not stereo but mono, but this is still a great trick for DJ mixing"" taken from the waves site i hope it can help u in what u are looking for

you can easly take the voice from the track and get the musik without the voice so u can make sample loops and mix them. u just need those freware karaoke voice remover. very easy..
but to keep the voice and take out the music i dont know.. all rmx i know is like 2 ways:
or u put the original music over your music and mix it like a dj would do
Or u need to get the samples separate from the artist and start composing yourself.. im not ware of other process for a rmx..
