This is a bit paradoxical. I'm in a band (with "organic" instruments). First off, would anyone here be appalled by the use of guitars @ a psy festival on say a downtempo stage? Psy-trance peeps are very particular, and we wouldn't want a Blues Brothers type incident to go down (I'll bring my helmet). We actually we recommended to play a certain East Coast (US) festival this summer, so more on that, but how does everyone (or anyone) feel about that sort of behaviour?

well I have seen Waterjuice from SF and Medicine Drum Using organic instruments and its just great, it all depends on the kind of music you play with those instruments, so for chill out/ambient/downtempo, should be no problem.

It all depends what it all sounds like and how you use those guitars. I personally would not really like it if its starts sounding to much like rock or things like that unless its really really good. Like if pink floyd was playing at the downtempo stage I would probably be alright with that, hehe.
I guess if you can create psychedelic soulful rythms that are unique and original it can work. But the music has to be very tight and together so it doesn't become a downer after you hear some tightly produced electronic music. |

Thanks guys. We're no pink Floyd. It's been a learning experience for all of us. I'm used to having my face in a computer screen for hours (or days) by myself or with a mate, and that's it. My band mates are from Rock bands, and I've turned them on to electronic music and they're exploding into this new world. It's awesome, but I've told them, make your guitar sound like it's possessed by robot ghosts. They're getting the hang of it..... We'll be done our first album in the summer hopefully. There are some rough mixes of the songs here:

Glad to say we were able to play the main stage @ Desiderata Festival. It was wickked!! HUUUUGE soundsystem. Also have a free download @ electrypnose's free site: www.freeqtechno.com
