used to like him but... what exactly do you find so cool about it? his sound and vibe at the moment is not so far from generic dubstep, kinda annoying imo, no flow

It sounds like every other club style dubstep/DnB. And why does he need to wear a lamp shade on his head? It look really stupid. Surely he could afford a better helmet no?
I'd be disappointed if I'd paid a design team and that's what I ended up with.

It's not my cup of dmtea, but some friends of mine saw him live and were totally blown away. So I guess it is difficult to translate it to a video...

guys this is squarepusher he is one of the most innovative pioneers in experimantel electronix since the 90ties i think.
i believe there were always competetion in skills between him and aphex twin. (some samples like "go home and fuck your daddy" was meant to diss aphex also they smoked together dmt few times. so he can not be that wrong^^
i used to like some tunes and hate others. and more in the way of fucking nice clean cutting edge effecting shit. psytrance could need some skills in lowdose

I watched this guy with mild 'cid in Oslo a few years back. Then the show was different, so was the music. He had a live drummer with him, and of course like stated above, music taste aside, it was a crazy good show because of proper musical skills, both by the drummer (!!) and the man him self with his knobs and gadgets (agreeing on the reverb "phantasm" talent).
I've always enjoyed Aphex Twin but never did bother to dive down the Squarepusher slot. Donno why, I guess I never really heard a track at the right time for it to "hit2 me to convert me away or astray from Aphex.
Anyway, I thought the show in Oslo was great and this topic video looks and sounds good too. Electronica though, not trance.

Seen him & Aphex live in the last 2 years.
Aphex slays Autechre. There is no comparison.
And Aphex doesn't feel the need to wear a lamp shade on his head.

What the hell is a Jesus other than the name of a glorified cult leader?

ISAm live is nice and all but the music (the new music specially) doesnt did much for me.
"The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."
