To my knowledge the kind of trance I prefer is the old skool Goa stuff, which I am slowly discovering years later.

I have very old tracks from electric universe like visiting versus, this is great, great melodies, great rythm. In this tracks you can hear the old tb303 sound, this is the best trance synth i hear. |

Oh Yes!!the oldgoapsytrance!!!the genesis!i guess that no one who heard that type will not forget it or id almost impossible not be a fan!!The true journeys were made with this one.People like ManMadeMan,Hallucinogen,spaceTribe,Infinity Project,etc..

Old school goa trance is the best. So much good releases between 1993 and 2000...
But thre is signs today of a revival with all this new school bringing back melodies.. Filteria, Yspsilon 5, Talpa, Ethereal..
Check releases from suntrip records or sundance records...
Psychedelism is back !! |

I dont really agree. I think we should look forward instead of trying to re-create the past. It wont work anyway. It never does. But I would like to see the music actually become more trancey again. There's very few trance elements in what i call FOB = Full Of Breaks (Full On and alike). You wont get into a state of trance when the tracks stop every 2 minutes and become an endless build up anthem killargh break. Only massive drugs can take you into a state of trance with that music.
I have heard people sing loud about the New-school artist trying to recreate the old-school sound but I have to be honest and say I dont find many similarities. Most of it sound quite full on in many ways with a lot of quite boring copying of old-school artists. And sorry to say so,.... It also lack a lot of production skill.. Why go back to the dull bad production when you have all the posibilities to have high quality production today?
I have never believed in going backwards. I think our scene need to look ahead and yes indeed find some elemets from the roots but integrate them into something new instead. BUT something trancey... Not yet more Scooter music. |

I love Old-School Goa, nd for me is much more psychedelic than full-on or dark
nd i must agree with Gopendra. some artists like filteria, Misted muppet, Talpa, etc are bringing us a new kind of Psy/Goa adapted to modern technologies, so it´s an evolution. excellent for mind traveling |

You guys are not alone(I feel great cause I am not alone in this)!!!!Old school was just something different.A trip, a voyage into something else.It was meant to travell while you listened .Today (full on and other generic crap) its just meant for the danceflor.Every album review says : a great dancefloor hit.I don't give a shit about the dancefloor.Bring the intelligence and spirit,heart, back to music.Unfortunatelly psy-trance has become way to big of a bussiness and its generaly going in a bad direction.I agree also with the HandA on the question of usless breaks.But thats a sign of a musicians lack of imagination.We just had a party(in july,2005) in Hungary with Mr.Martin Freeland and I must say I have not danced like that in 2 years.The man is still great with new songs that have it all .Everything we talked about till now.That edge ,that intelligence,that trip,voyage .woooow.I just hope we can one day loose all this stupid generic shit and people realize its all for the dollars .
When will we hear songs like Biocandy fro CHI.A.D or stuff like Blue Planet????Not to mention all MWNN and Hallucinogen!!!!Keep the faith guys .As a party promoter I am really happy that there are people out there who don't fall for the crap.

In the trance scene is one album that noone can top. Hallucinogen - Twsted. Nobody has made a better album, astral projection are great but they never had made music like this. Tis is real psytrance. |
