Is there any Hardware Enthusiasts here?

Everyone wants fat sounding tunes on the dancefloor. People don't compress their tracks to reach a hardware sound, they simply want to control the dynamics of their sources, be that hardware, software any kind of sample.
Virtual analog synths are fully digital. One of the reasons people prefer them is their user interface and the style/ease of programming. Also analog sounds have been a trend for the last 15 years. When the DX 7 came out in the 80's, everyone thought that was an amazing synth and analog synths that cost a fortune today, where very cheap then due to low demand for them. I think I read somewhere that you could buy a used TB-303 for $80, back then.
Because of the high demand for the analog sound, sompanies made cheap alternatives (it is much cheaper to put a DSP chip inside a synth, than use CEM, SSM...etc, chip based analog electronics, or even more expensive, descrete electronics), that use algorithms to emulate the sonic characteristics of analog synths and added memory, polyphony, Midi and digital effects on the virtual synths. The interface was very similar to analog synths, the boxes were too, some companies even added wooden side panels to add to the feel of emulation. Eveyone jumped on the Nord train and made virtual analog synths and made some cash too.
I do not think there is a real rush for people to get hardware. In psy-trance most people make tunes using just a computer, although I do belive that all/most of the "biggest" names, use both hardware and software.
Analog does sound more interesting to me, hence why I use it more, but I started programming Absynth again and last night I used Reaktor for a lead synth and FM 7 for some background drones. Put soft synths through a good Lexicon reverb and a good hardware compressor and they sound fantastic in their own right.
I don't understand why you think anyone is trying to find excuses for using hardware, unless it is forbidden by the almighty Isratrance guidlines to use hardware off course.
People simply use hardware/analog because they like the sound of it and the way they work with it. Some people like big bleeping boxes and will always buy gudgets that make farting noises. If that is where they get their inspiration from, then they will buy more and use it more.
Some people get inspired when they sit with their laptop on their lap, programming synths with the laptop's pad and that is fair enough.
It is all very subjective when it comes to making music, you can say that computer technology lures more and more people into the same way of working and has been the simple standard in making (trance) tunes, but then again trying to make something special out of something simple is a nice challenge that can drive some artists one step further.

well... that's for sure i'm not getting their +6000€ stuff...

and i'm quite sure most psytrance artists can't justify buying one either...

off course it has reverb units wich go cheaper...           roll a joint or STFU :)

Pan has an Eclipse that he left in my studio for about a year. It is by far THE best reverb and multi-effects processor I've ever used. The pitch algorithms are unreal. It costs a lot of cash, but it is worth every penny.

Depends really
If you want a certain 'unique' sound quality as opposed to the generic sound of software
the justification exists there.
Johannes Regnier of Silicon Sound was raving about Eventide gear after spending a week with Simon Posford in the studio.
I guess it is the old story, if you are successful and the music is paying it's way then spend some of it on quality gear.
One thing that distinguishes pro gear is functionality. The old rule is that you should be able to switch it on and it works - no glitches, software crashes or freezes. Hardware units possess these qualities.
As for analogue outboard, I know of few mastering houses that don't run final mixes through Class A EQ's (Avalon, Focusrite, Manley, George Massenburg Labs, Crane Song etc) these units possess extraordinary musicality which mathematically computed waveforms lack......
