I not a big fan of software since it sounds so flat (there is one or two good softwares)
all that talk about software is just as good as hardware, is just wrong!! |

somethimes ppl say vst are not good just like hardware , i think its because ppl dont have anough pacience to twist the software until the end
but i agree with u i prefer hardware eheheh

well, thats also true! but the vst`s is in 9 of 10 times the specifications of the hardware, and ofcourse it also depends on the soundcards AD/DA converters!
See ya!! |

Nah I just thought the term "trance off" sounded abnormally cheesy. Like a "battle of the bands"
I would be curious to hear how much better these hardware aficianados' music must sound than that which has been created by us misled software fools.
Oh wait, this is the internet, asking people to back up their "knowledge" with experience and product is verboten. |

Hardware is the way. Compare side by side any synth like an virus, nordlead, jp8080 to any software synth and you will notice the big difference..
It's the same with guitar distortion. If you listen to a tube distortion, you will never want transistored distortion.
Playing alive with hardware is more secure, avoiding computer hang problems and low lantency (with hardware you have really zero lattency).
I'm starting my first psy project. Every effect and music will be done by hardware. Until now I don't have a sampler, so I'm using a computer to play the drum and effects samples...
The problem with hardware is $$$. They are too expensive, but it worst.
I'm using software synths just to compose without my Nord Lead 3... I put every note on the piano roll, turn on my Vanguard VST, check if everything is fine, then I connect my midi cables, choose a NL3 patch, and start tweeking it to achieve the wanted results.
For those people that are starting now with eletronic dance music, free software synths are a good way to understand how it works, but in a future, with more experience, you will need a hardware synth (to use with your vsts or no).
(I hope you can understand my English).

Funny that you mention three digital synths.
Compare softsynth to analog synths = even more difference, but I must say that software has been getting ALOT better the last few years. |

Those are all software synths. Lol. (They just happen to be in a box).

Actually, you will have much more latency with hardware. Most sequencers have sample accurate rendition. Hardware uses MIDI which, in comparison, is very slow.

The topic isn't about digital or analog.
Even digital hardware synth sounds very fat, but how many vst synths sound fat? And how many fat VSTs you can run at the same time with your machine?
The problem with computer software synth is: they consume a lot of processing. I can't open 4 or more high quality VSTs with my Pentium 4, and they still don't produce fat results...
About latency... I use 2 rack effects, 2 keyboards, and one foot midi controller, and they don't have any latency, but you have to keep their system updated.
Mine Alesis Quadraverb2 was very slow to receive midi CC messages, and I can't change my EPROM memory to update the system, so I buy a Boss VF-1. No problem with midi now.

Maybe you didn't read what i wrote..
This topic ISN'T about analog or digital comparison...
I'm comparing hardware synths with VSTs synths.
