I'm trying to figure out if there's an english word for "the texture of sounds that artists use in their music". For example, some trance is smooth, some his hard, some is soft, some is kinda dirty sounding, etc... For example I made up my own term and am currently calling it "audio diction", but I'm looking for something better. For example I'd say something like "Benza's 'retrofuturism' album has a mellow and warm 'audio diction'" or "all the tracks on the 'alittle lunacy' compilation have a bright and hard edged 'audio diction'"
Anyway, I'm looking for a proper word for this (if it exists) |

The texture is very general property of a sound.
Colorof the sound matches good is a correct and
"official" name.Though u can use timbre as well!
