hi, is it possible to open and mix more than 1 project in cubase open at the same time, and lets say play, bass+kick, percusssions, and other stuff, like a base track,, and then using a nordlead,or any other synths, u know do some tricks, etc ? i havent even googled it, i thought i'd ask the here first..?so, my question is, if i want to shift from 1 track to next track, can i somehow mix them on cubase somehow, like by opening 2 of them together and then, mixing track 1's ending into the next 1's or other mixing tricks, like bring in bass of 2nd track etc etc,,,but i think mixer on cubase will play only 1 track or no? i love cubase, i know it well, even abelton i understand decently cause all of them r same anyway, but i like cubase, so is there a way?i dont even know what i'm asking.hehe

put them all in one session, as audio stems, then use samplers and arranger tracks

I've seen so many people doing (fake) live acts in cubase.. so, yeah, it's possible.
Pre-mix your tracks, go on stage, open your laptop and pretend to plug-in your midi controller, open your cubase set and press the space bar! Instant live!
Also, if you want a pro-live, then instead of faking to plug in the controller, actually plug it in, and tweak a filter cutoff over time.. One mega knob and you're the DJ-Live Act master!
There's not much you can do arrangement wise, but you can still play over your stuff.. I've seen Talamasca playing live with some CD's and a synth, mixing the cd's and playing over them.
It all depends on what you want to do live, on how you want to perform.

Do you know the arranger track knocz? It can be used pretty good with a midi controller..in addition the groove agent one used as sampler to trigger sounds with your keyboard, can give a pretty cool liveact imo..

Nop, not really, sorry. I just spoke of what I've already seen (and you cant imagine how many friggin fake cubase acts there are )
Offtopic: if there's a performance or live act without a single mistake, then it wasn't played live..
But yeah there's a lot you can do live even with a pre-arranged set.. too bad people don't give the effort to find out how they can do more.
A suggestion: can you open two instances of cubase, have and external midi clock, and DJ through the sets (with one computer.. if you have two than it's more than possible, assuming you have two good sound cards with midi in)

suloo; that would be 1 huge project mang,,but yea i see ur point.
and yea groove agent is fukin awesome,,i donno if u guys really use it,, but u can put break up any kind of samples'percussion trains, into small bits etc,,, or even use it as a simple sampler trigger controller, using midid,,, me hope cubase come uptodate and fix this shit...i donno mate how live can 1 get but i think some parts have to be pre arranged, in order to do ur thing on top,, otherwise all the time will be wasted in making the base,,instead of "playing" anything

I think most people bounce their tracks in stems or they bounce parts of the tracks and rearrange them in ableton. Timestretching in ableton is also alot better.
I personally bounce whole tracks. Make em fit in ableton and add sounds and effects on top. For sure you can do alot more. But with the little time I have I prefer to spend more time on building music than on making it more 'live'.

There were a lot of poeple playing live in the late '90s using hardware synths, desks, samplers, HDDs, hardware FX...etc.
Most of the faking started in the new millennium.
Peace out.

the big plus in live is that you can set the trigger to beat grid and can avoid timing problems that way, wich is great for live..

I use cubase live,im sure its not considered a real live set but its the best I can do with what I have. I bounce all of my tunes down as the individual audio files and then when I import them to cubase I put them all on different tracks. Then load the next tune in,in the same way and mix the tracks together so they blend nicely. Save it every time I have got two tracks blended well together,i dont worry about levels yet until I have the whole set arranged, then I listen through to it applying fade ins/outs and volume automation and effects automation so its sounding sweet.
Next step I make midi notes for the whole set which trigger my roland gaia and I play with that all the time live constantly tweaking it, with ciubase constantly feeding it midi notes.
When I have my set arranged I listen through with span going and make sure theres no nasty spikes.then create a mastering chain on the stereo out to get the levels up.
Another nice trick is to chop bits of your stems up and drag them into loop mash and use the performance controls for some cool stutter and speed up slow down effects. Sorry for the long post, hope u can find something useful inside
